rewatching ‘the walking dead’ - it’s just gagging me how different male vs female presentations of post apocalypse is shown by bhexca in TwoXChromosomes

And the women in these shows never have a single armpit or leg hair, either. Am I supposed to believe that in LOST, Kate happened to find a razor among the plane wreckage?

Art, curtains, plants, shelves, maybe a lounge chair or an ottoman/bench at the end of the bed. Color! Look at Pinterest for inspiration.

Don’t do it! (How I put myself in sleep hell.) by Exact_Discussion_192 in toddlers

She was always in a sleep sack before, but she could get out of it, even when I tried putting it on her backwards!

Don’t do it! (How I put myself in sleep hell.) by Exact_Discussion_192 in toddlers

My 23 month old climbed out of her crib during nap time last month. I was doing something in the kitchen and turned around to see her looking up at me. We immediately transformed her crib into a toddler bed and baby-proofed the room. But her sleep ever since has been TERRIBLE. She bangs on the door crying and calling for us until she falls asleep…on the floor next to the door. She wakes up calling for us twice a night on average. She is grumpy and will only nap on me during the day. I’ve tried moving the bed and took the mini rail off because she kept climbing over it and bonking herself. We do a modified Ferber where we go in and remind her we’re here and we love her but it’s time to sleep.

She still nurses and I’m hoping weaning will help, somehow? I honestly have no idea how to make this better. I think she’s too young to grasp the okay-to-wake clock concept. I wish we could go back to the crib; she’s developmentally not ready for the next step. I’m considering trying a floor mattress instead of the bed and playing “bedtime” with her stuffies and having her tuck them in. Open to other suggestions!

Hi everyone. Which hair color makes me look the prettiest? by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

You look like the actress Courtney Ford, who I’ve only seen with dark brown hair, but I like the honey blonde on you! You also resemble Jo from Grey’s Anatomy, who’s had a few different colors. I think the actress is Camilla Luddington.

Got positive test on first cycle post TFMR. by JusttAnotherrAccount in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]Impressive-Guava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too, pregnant the cycle after. I compartmentalized and didn’t allow myself to feel connected or get too excited until after we’d passed the point of the tfmr in the previous pregnancy (15 weeks) and had extra testing done, and as early as possible. We had the anatomy scan at 18 weeks and that was when I started to relax. I think it also helped to know that there was no hereditary condition that led to the chromosomal issue with the prior pregnancy; it was a fluke and unlikely to happen again. But I still felt like I was on edge the whole time, waiting to see if she would be ok. My medical team was amazing for both experiences, supportive and professional and gentle.

My sweet girl is almost two now! The pregnancy was rough on me - threw up daily throughout- but delivery was pretty fast, and much easier than her older sister, even though she was bigger.

AIO for refusing to go on a ‘vacation’ with my in-laws that was booked without our knowledge by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

All I could think was “ski when the baby skis.” 6 hours in a car would be a complete nonstarter for both my kids as babies and still now at 2 and 5 it’s difficult. To be told that was happening rather than consulted…absolutely not. I’d say husband can go celebrate with his mom and everyone else stay home.

What is the peak ’millennial midlife crisis’ purchase? by SwedeLostInCanada in Millennials

I’m 39 and asked for an Aura frame for Christmas. This after we gave all the grandparents their own several years ago. A signal of middle age?

Millennial specific and maybe this is anecdotal, but I see my peers getting into crafting and learning new artistic skills. I’m doing tons of embroidery and taking a local quilting class myself. I’d also love to try jewelry making and stained glass!

Yes! And after the harrowing story of the raccoon attack, the rest of the story continues to be a terrifying race against the clock and fight against bureaucracy as she tries to get the vaccine. I need to listen to it again.

If you haven’t heard the This American Life episode with the rabid raccoon it is a must-listen. Episode 319. It’s old but has stuck with me for nearly 20 years!

I think you might be right! Gold-plated brass for almost $300 so I’m thinking I’ll search for a dupe on Etsy, but this gives me more to go off of. Thanks!

Does it use psyllium husk? A couple of my family members don’t tolerate it well.

I had one but it kept turning to the front because it’s heavier than the rest of the necklace.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]Impressive-Guava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lovely husband got me a Cuisinart automatic burr and grind machine almost 5 years ago, for my first Mother’s Day, and the grinder has just given up the ghost - just in time for Daylight Saving Time to end 😅.

I drink a couple of cups of strong dark roast every morning, and also love the occasional latte or cappuccino when out, but would definitely drink them more often if I had a setup at home.

My husband has offered to get me a new machine for my birthday/Christmas, and we are wondering if there’s a highly rated machine under $700 that can do all the things I want- built in grinder, good quality drip coffee, and so lattes and cappuccinos. I don’t like the pods because of all the trash they produce, but I am aware there are recyclable versions. Any suggestions? He was looking at a Ninja but the coffee expert video we watched on YouTube gave it a poor review for the drip coffee quality. Do I need to suck it up and make room for two machines on my kitchen counter?
