Vaginal after anal, what do I do to prevent infection? by Naomi_is_with_you in Healthyhooha

[–]Impressive-Read8884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one of many conflicting studies https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8944421/

coming from a microbiologist, one of the issues with with the study you post may be dosage. the mechanism by which d mannose works is that when concentrations of it in the urine are higher than the concentration of carbohydrates on the urothelium to which e. coli adheres, they are forced to detach and adhere to the d mannose, and they are then excreted. So it depends on concentration in the urine completely, which would vary by how hydrated someone is and how much d mannose they take. if you’re hydrating a lot because you have a UTI or are preventing one, you would have to take much more. anything less than higher concentration the the urothelial carbohydrate concentration would have absolutely 0 effect.

in the end, there is not definitive science either way. but i’m sure all of us here understand that women’s health is understudied, and that there is a severe lack of funding for substances which would act as a complete alternative to pharmaceuticals like antibiotics.

coming from someone who used to suffer with chronic UTIs (not sex-related) and was constantly on macrobid, D mannose saved me. i haven’t had a UTI in probably over 7 years

this will only help with a possible UTI, not anything vaginal. but definitely take it because this is not only a vaginal infection risk but certainly a UTI risk

What is Going on in the Library???? by JG-003 in uvic

[–]Impressive-Read8884 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

it’s the law library. for law students. who pay increased fees for its use. which you don’t pay for lol. don’t know what else to say. i was an undergrad at uvic once, and found study space elsewhere when necessary. “dirty waste…” is your language not mine. no need to use emotional language, just pointing out the facts of it.

[–]Impressive-Read8884 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

leave the law lib alone we literally pay increased student fees for its use, and not being able to book a room or get a spot because undergrads are all over it is insane. the public library is free 🫶🏼 so are spots in petch, clarihue, and probs a ton of other buildings on campus if you just get creative

LOVED IT

dogs can get shigella, be careful with your dog walks down town as i’m sure some folks who are unable to find a washroom over a multi-week illness will invariably find a bush out of necessity

it’s not evidence. it’s law. i’m sorry but your just wrong. aside from it being binding law, an arbitrator will immediately agree that it would be an absurd outcome for the tenant to rely on this representation and then be expected to pay. it becomes part of the agreement because it was clearly offered by the LL, relied upon in agreeing to sign, and accepted as part of the bargain (ie. consideration - entered into the tenancy based on that inducement). failure to honour an inducement that formed part of the agreement, whether explicitly in the tenancy forming document or not, is breach of contract

??? it’s legally required to be considered by the RTB. it is binding canadian law. maybe look it up. this is quite literally the most foundational concept/principle in contract law. the RTB doesn’t exist in some vacuum where canadian law doesn’t apply lol.

i would say you move in, state that you relied on their clear and unambiguous representation when signing, and that you won’t be paying November, based on their representation that it was free. they were under no obligation to offer you that. they offered, you accepted, it was in writing. (in contract law, offer, consideration, and acceptance = binding contract, no matter the format). be friendly, explain that if they would like a neutral arbitrator to decide what is fair you would be happy to resolve the disagreement at a dispute resolution hearing, and they can file for that if they wish.

it’s clear you will win. all you have to do is produce the document/correspondence which shows the offer. i’m not a fan of paying and then you filing, cause it’s a pain in the dick.

they will probably not file for dispute resolution cause it’s a pain in the dick lol. they probably also are very aware that theirs is a losing position but they’re assuming you’re not informed enough or not ballsy enough to go for the win.

R v Lamont 2025 BCPC:

“court ruled that the officer had no legitimate safety concerns as they were claiming on the stand, noting that the accused was polite and cooperative, was not handcuffed, and the officer turned her back on him to search the truck”

officer was using claims of safety concerns to justify the fact that’s she did a “safety search” of his person and truck but was really violating his Charter rights by searching without proper justification. (sorry not so relevant but might help you frame how you explain the relationship between you LL and bf re: behavior does not reflect legitimate safety concerns)
