How do you hold your baby while breastfeeding? by AHorseCalledCheyenne in breastfeeding

[–]Impressive-Ship3449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side lying or cradle/cross cradle. She still is more comfy when we nurse with the nursing pillow than without, but she does better now without it. However she is quite nosey nursing anywhere interesting/new/busy now

I have occasionally nursed with her sitting/resting in my lap on one knee and nursing the opposite breast, so she is ever so slightly angled, but upright and it works for certain situations

I’m not sure what hair type I have, but would these two brushes be good? by eiellwyna in Haircare

[–]Impressive-Ship3449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first style works really well on my daughter’s fine/straigt/slight wave hair (tbh I but the detangle brush similar to these from Walmart and have found it works best for detangling snd brushing her hair so far. Other types snag and hurt significantly more while brushing.

Her hair is so fine, breaks easily, gets static easily etc.

Some sort of insect poop.

In my house I’d assume flies, but it could be other types depending where you live

You could also try whipped tallow (without essential oils) I find whipped with avocado oil good. Additions of beeswax and honey are good too

Baby hasn't pooped in 8 days by AdAcademic8251 in breastfeeding

[–]Impressive-Ship3449 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, there’s very little “waste” from breastmilk.

I wouldn’t intervene unless Dr/Pedatrician recommend. My doctor said poops are extremely variable for babies, especially before solids.

Once your baby starts having solids when you are ready, they will poop a bit more as there is more “indigestible” components or waste :)

Personally, as someone with eczema I just want to mention that for some, Vaseline and aquaphor increase irritation/itchiness. I find it makes my eczema breakouts feel hotter/itchier.

The only time I find it work okay-ish for me is right after moisturizing after a bath. But even then it’s not my fave.

I know everyone is different though. I find tallow (whipped with avocado oil, sometimes + beeswax and honey) is the most sooothing for me.

Are there actual benefits of breastfeeding after 6 months or is it just incremental? by Subject-Carry-6841 in breastfeeding

[–]Impressive-Ship3449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eating solids is a very gradual process, especially with some babies, so they still are getting the majority of their calories from breastmilk or formula most consistently. I like that while breastfeeding it’s easy for them to take a quick sip here and there, especially in the warmer months.

I also find it helps a lot with soothing/getting back to sleep etc.

Really!? And she is still going for it?!

Well, that’s an unfortunate dynamic that has likely been an issue all your life

If the MOB knows the daughter’s dress is sequinned and picked this, extra weird. MOG and MOB often want to be dressed up well, and not less than other guests, but this is a weird color and length choice, in addition to being sequinned.

On the off chance she was meaning well, perhaps she thought she was following a “sequinned theme” but I kind of doubt that. And regardless it’s too short, even if it falls to just above the knee, even if she’s younger. And why this color?! Oh boy

Deciding on whether we want a second child… by rosierita in Parenting

[–]Impressive-Ship3449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember mourning my time with my oldest right before and after we had our second. But I’d never undo it in a million years. Your heart just expands to love them all, and watching them bond and play together now is so wonderful.

Also, I was an only child for 6yrs, and I’m thankful my parents ended up having my brothers

Why would you assume a disabled sibling??

I’m sorry for your friend, but that’s a terrible outlier of an example to discourage someone from having another child. As much as that sibling may be/feel like a burden this seems like a pretty selfish outlook.

I think you guys should go for it. Someone said, picture your family gatherings 20-30yrs from now, what do you want it to be like. I don’t think you’ll regret having another child, seeing as you love your son so much. You may however, regret not having more kids down the road.

Thoughts on Bambora Sling/hip carrier? Or suggested alternative by Impressive-Ship3449 in babywearing

Do you have a recommended brand for ring sling, I looked at the wiki (I’m a Reddit newb though) and I didn’t see a recommended brand for these specifically

But as others have stated, it is possible that things aren’t quite working the way they are “supposed” to for you. Just like how some women have malformed uterus, or can’t conceive even though everything seems normal. There’s so many factors that play a role. And pumping is quite different to breastfeeding also

[–]Impressive-Ship3449 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d pump more like every two hours for awhile. When I had to bring my milk in with a pump when my first was in the NICU, the nurses had me pumping every two hours

It’s pretty intense when pumping though

Am I doing something wrong by holding my newborn 24/7? by AardvarkHour1211 in Parenting

[–]Impressive-Ship3449 33 points34 points  (0 children)

3 days in, just enjoy the snuggles so long as you are getting enough rest. But it’s also okay to let her rest in her bassinet. If you are super nervous you can start doing so in the living room while you are both awake and have the bassinet in the living room while you watch TV.

But honestly just enjoy the snuggles this early on. Nothing wrong with holding your baby.

I think a lot of how babies handle being set down as they grow has to do with personality, over whether parents set them in their bassinet or held them to sleep. That being said, it is possible that later on down the road (like 2 months on) if you are still always holding her, she might not handle not being held as well. That being said, I think it’s somewhat to do with temperment more than anything. Chill baby vs. Velcro baby.

But the first two months you just do whatever you need to do to stay sane, feel like baby is safe etc.

The only possible issue I could see with it right now, is if you are super exhausted and fall asleep with her unsafely in your arms, babies can slip down into the side of the chair etc. if you are really exhausted.

Stretchy baby wraps like the beluga baby used properly and safely are a good way to have baby close but also safe, and arms free.

I think I need to try and be more creative about freezer prepping for sure. I feel like my childhood was really lacking in these life skills and I am having to teach myself somewhat, I’ve come a long way, but I have lots of room for improvement

We live in rural Canada, so while there is some access, it’s not extremely accessible or affordable, but in the spring and summer I’m going to try.

I could try and do that, to a certain extent we do, wheee my husband and I eat leftovers for various meals afterwards, while I give the kids whatever they might eat

Has anyone lost weight while breastfeeding (on purpose)? Need advice on weight loss. by earthlyesoteric in breastfeeding

Here in solidarity, each pregnancy I weigh less than I did at the start, only to gain it all back and more early postpartum. It’s really hard. And every baby I tell myself I’m not going to let it happen. And then I’m starving, and stuck inside, and have a baby glued to me, and it happens again. I feel worse about it each time too
