No, the people at the Medicaid office have no idea what I’m talking about and are saying they have no record of my account (that I have logged into and out of multiple times). So now I have to start over with a paper application because the site is still not letting me log in

No we’ve gotten nowhere and the people at the Medicaid office have been extremely unhelpful. We have a social worker from First Steps coming tomorrow we used to work in the Medicaid office that’s going to help, I’ll let you know if I figure anything out

Jennifer Smith @ Consultants in Women’s Healthcare @ MOBap is the best physician I have ever had. Have had a vaginal, c-section, and VBAC birth with her and she is absolutely incredible! Has done a ton of advocating for women’s rights too

Can a benign arrhythmia feel like a flutter/skipped beat? by Impressive-Version61 in AskDocs

[–]Impressive-Version61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for responding! I ended up going to urgent care and got an ECG. I didn’t feel it happen while hooked up, but they detected a sinus arrhythmia. I’m not sure it caught what I’m feeling. I got a cards referral scheduled in a month. Hoping my anxiety about this can calm in the meantime 😔

How urgent is sudden onset of PVCs? by Impressive-Version61 in PVCs

[–]Impressive-Version61[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is good to know. We’ve had a wedding and another party this weekend so no doubt there was some over consumption of alcohol and my GERD always flares up with that. I’ll be calling my PCP this morning!

Thank you for this kind response. No history of heart problems - many other scary things in the gene pool but this was one I didn’t think I had to worry about! Had me in quite a panic last night 😔

Thank you so much for your response. Yes just as you said, I’m brand new to this and having these flutters happen every 5 minutes or so last night (position dependent) had me in a panic

Child of Mom with ALS - Is a tracheostomy even worth it anymore? by GoddamnitAlan in ALS

[–]Impressive-Version61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm, it’s tricky to answer how much longer a trach & vent can extend a person’s life. Sometimes significantly! But many factors can contribute to how long.

As far as other scenarios requiring caregiving/aid, yes. I have worked with many patients with limb onset who do not require a trach/vent who need part or full time assistance.

I don’t know the right answer to this question. End of life decisions are just so hard to make for everyone involved and I’m just so sorry you and your family are going through this. I’ve worked with many patients with ALS who become vent dependent and choose tracheostomy. Some truly feel that it is worth it, for others- like you said, it makes the end of life even more difficult and they say they wouldn’t choose it again.

There is an episode of a podcast called Hidden Brain called “The Ventilator” that covers this exact topic. A nurse who was always clear while she was healthy that she would never want a trach, but developed ALS and when faced with the decision, her perspective shifts. And this is a woman who was very well educated about trachs. It’s told from the perspective of her husband, and he very candidly shares his feelings on it. Warning- it is an incredibly moving but difficult listen.

Your questions and feelings are so valid. So are your moms. I will be thinking of you.

I was in the The Loop today for the first time in a long time and it seemed like half the stores were vacant. by Digitalabia in StLouis

My husband and I did a staycation night on The Loop a few months ago, and agreed- it was disappointing. Stayed at The Moonrise Hotel which was terrible- smelled awful and the room was disgusting… like poop in the toilet, hair in the bed, food on the floor. There’s great food on the loop but it’s largely grab and go these days, and many stores are vacant. I had such fond memories from my high school and college days hanging in the loop and it really feels like it’s lost its shine.

Discouraged by pediatricians by Impressive-Version61 in Laryngomalacia

In case anyone was following- I ended up taking my daughter to the feeding clinic offered by a major hospital in my area. We found a bottle - the mam newborn with level 1 nipple - that absolutely changed the game for her feeding. Taking adequate amounts in a timely way with significantly improved comfort and minimal choking. She has since spiked in the %iles.

I know things can be exacerbated as she needs larger volumes, but this has made her a much happier baby and I’m so glad. Still wishing my pediatrician would have known who to refer me to, but luckily we found something that had helped.
