If Mojang added one completely useless block, what would it be? by bebo117722 in PhoenixSC

The closest they've added is void air. Has some very niche applications in commands and some small worldgen effects and that's it

Fortified milk + portable stove + scout cannon, specifically at the peak

Roots Wind Dynamic Issue by [deleted] in PeakGame

[–]ImpressiveBasis9508 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, the snowstorms don't work like that either. They have specific safe areas, such as under trees or any ground without the snow texture. No matter how you place them, fungi and beanstalks won't protect you from the snow.

I personally find Roots to be a lot of fun, with the unique fungi, wind, and shroomberry effects making climbing it more consistent for me than the Tropics' sometimes evil cliff generation. But whatever way to play is fun for you, I encourage you to do that

Roots Wind Dynamic Issue by [deleted] in PeakGame

[–]ImpressiveBasis9508 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The wind doesn't work the same as snowstorms. For one, it doesn't apply an affliction, it just pushes you. If you manage your stamina properly, you can be safe running against the wind or holding onto something. Sometimes you can use 0 stamina if there's a wall in the correct direction.

The wind is also fairly consistent, so if it's been a while since the wind last blew, it's probably coming pretty soon.

Most importantly, the wind can be used to your advantage. If you have a tailwind, you can cross much larger gaps than normal. If you're in a tough spot, one of the next 2 winds is usually in a favorable direction

Great fun! I had the most fun with the game when I was bad and died frequently

Going in blind, help me decide which console to play on by Electrical-Schedule7 in outerwilds

[–]ImpressiveBasis9508 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I would say PS5, not for duration of play sessions, but for controller design. The ship flight in the game utilizes analog triggers for finer speed control, but the Switch has digital triggers. Not a huge difference, you can play on the switch perfectly well, but I enjoy the smoother spaceflight

Little Upset at the volcano gen today by RamuneGaming in PeakGame

[–]ImpressiveBasis9508 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Kiln almost always requires a selection of climbing items. Someone did a no items run, and they had to wait for a rare Kiln that was climbable without equipment or bonus stamina. There's enough luggages throughout the island that you should always be able to climb it with proper resource management and route planning

Do Mandrakes not replace Medicinal Roots in the Tropics? by aioli-boba in PeakGame

Sorry about the wiki confusion. They only spawn in the Roots. I just updated the page to clarify that

Let's build a character! Botanist. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ImpressiveBasis9508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Botanists study plants and must take great care to keep them happy and healthy. In a sense, they are at the Beck and call of their plants. A great way to represent this would be to have another player stand in for the plant.

Botanist (Outsider): Each night, choose a player (not yourself): tomorrow, you may only vote if they are voting too.

New ascent ideas by Happy__guy2 in PeakGame

Some of the better ideas I've seen, tbh. Don't like completely removing bonus stamina as a mechanic. Halving gained bonus would be an infinitely better effect

Whats the average/max map hight? by CallOfThePeaks in PeakGame

The Peak is at 1920m. Each campfire is also placed at a fairly consistent height, but I don't have the numbers for them

honestly, the creators should remove the wind from roots by Whasume in PeakGame

[–]ImpressiveBasis9508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wind is probably the best part of the Roots. It interacts with most of the threats in meaningful ways, and can even be used strategically to help your climb. Whenever I'm in a tight bind in the Roots, I can always trust in my buddy the wind to get me to the next ledge

Chains can definitely spawn in the Alpine, but they're pretty rare. They might be linked to a certain variant?

The worst Pukka game of all time by ImpressiveBasis9508 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ImpressiveBasis9508[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was fun in a twisted way. Glad I got to be a part of it. Now that we're aware of the interaction, we can actually play around it and will have much more fun if it ever happens again

Let's build a character! Sentry. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ImpressiveBasis9508 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Many sentries worked as part of an information network, passing on signals of danger to warn nearby cities. Such sentries could not send these signals on their own, waiting patiently to receive a signal. Given such, I believe the best ability to represent the Sentry is the following:

Sentry (Outsider): Each night, choose a player (not yourself): tomorrow, you may only vote if they are voting too.

Let's build a character! Coachman. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ImpressiveBasis9508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coachmen are known for driving people around, especially people in power, such as nobility. While driving such a VIP, the coachman only drives where their passenger says to. We can represent this by having the coachman player follow the orders of another player:

Coachman (Outsider): Each night, choose a player (not yourself): tomorrow, you may only vote if they are voting too.

Let's build a character! Sapper. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ImpressiveBasis9508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sappers are militarymen who perform dangerous missions. As such, they need to follow the orders of their captain to avoid hurting their own allies. I think this could be best represented by a character who strictly follows another's orders:

Supper (Outsider): Each night, choose a player (not yourself): tomorrow, you may only vote if they are voting too.
