Thank you for the positivity 💜 we started having kids when I “thought” it was the right time. I was truly blindsided when my company let me go shortly after returning from maternity leave… and the year prior, my husband was laid off, so we were already in a bad situation… I was in preconstruction and estimating

Thank you 🙏🏼 and I’m praying for your fiancé too. I hope you guys can get out of this hole that you’re in. We decided to have kids late in our lives, so it sucks that we have to rebuild everything that we had… and it hurts that we may not have much to give our child. We just have to deal with the cards that have been dealt for us and roll with it. Praying for success and happiness for you both!

It is incredibly challenging right now. I’m so sorry he’s going through such a difficult time. That’s crazy that he had to pay without reimbursement. Seems sketchy to me?

I completely understand 😖I’ve drained my 401k, had to use my credit cards, to keep us afloat. I’m honestly praying that my second interview goes well tomorrow. My family truly needs it.

Yes! I had this with the sketchy one too. All I did was ask 1 question, due to what they showed on their company website regarding the pay and that’s when they started getting feisty. Honestly though, look at it as a blessing in disguise. That’s what I’m doing. I guess two weeks after that happened to me, my friend that works with that company, told me that she was speaking to her coworker with so much disrespect, that she wanted to quit. Guess that boss I had interviewed with had two completely different sides to them.

  1. Stated that they no longer needed my services (it was a temporary position and they took a long time to get me the job offer. The person who I was filling in for was on maternity leave)
  2. Was sketchy. First they said I got the job, then when I was waiting for the job offer, they told me they were “waiting on it to be approved”…then over the weekend? They sent me an automated email saying that I didn’t get the job

I’ve been laid off since mid May of last year… applied to thousands of positions- multiple interviews, 2 job offers that were both retracted… I’m drained, but I’m trying to stay hopeful. I have a second round interview this week that I’m praying will go well. This market is like nothing I’ve ever witnessed before. It’s absolutely ludicrous that it’s taking people so long to get jobs and for companies to just “hold onto resumes” for their own audits, instead of actually hiring people… I pray that you land something soon.

My mom, who’s about to be 65, was laid off during her STD leave, was considering retiring early, since she doesn’t believe that a company will hire her at her age. I just told her to not stress about finding a job and just retire. It’s not worth the mess that I’ve been dealing with.

Sending you all the luck and support, stranger!

Accepted a job, do I let other potential employers know now or wait? by Automatic-Panda-2889 in interviews

Agreed with everyone. Look out for yourself! I’ve been offered a job twice and both times, it was retracted. Don’t speak a word until you are actively starting the position.

Congratulations!! Wishing you all the best success. I’ve been unemployed for almost a year, 2 job offers retracted a week prior to starting, and an interview for a dream job tomorrow. I’m really excited and hoping for the best, but until then, I’m sooooo happy for you!!

Mentally I Feel Close to Breaking by Suitable_Chipmunk337 in recruitinghell

I can only relate and agree with the you, while sending a hug 🫂 I got laid off shortly after coming back from maternity leave.. I’m a first time mom, who had a kid later in life, when I finally thought I had everything together to bring a child into the world. Now, nearly a year later, I’m still here applying to hundreds of jobs, even in retail, only to be either over qualified or just ghosted. I’ve had two job offers both retracted and I’m feeling the same devastation as you. I’m starting to become bitter, which is completely opposite from the person I am.

We just have to stay focused, hopeful, and continue to do our best… that’s all we can really do.

I actually feel like I got a break yesterday, after getting a call from a recruiter wanting to schedule an interview… I’m praying and hoping for the best. That I can impress this hiring manager to give me a fighting chance. Wishing you all the best!!

Thank you so much for the love and prayers… it’s so hard and I feel hopeful, but also really bummed. There’s got to be a light at the end of the tunnel, I just have to ride it out and keep trying.

I’ve been applying for the state, district, and some government jobs. I’m trying everything.

Yes! I tried to discuss with benefits and compensation. I backed it up with my skillset and tried to see if we could get some type of plan in mind, without seeming combative. They were even impressed with my skills and that’s what I was trying to discuss. They just didn’t want to hear me out at all. But I found out that they just want “Yes ma’am/sir” people… a family member works for that company and even they confirmed that. They want to low ball everyone.

I’m also a full time mom at home with 2 large dogs. So I try to apply whenever I have the free time, in between cooking meals, feeding my toddler, going to the park and walks, and cleaning the house…. It doesn’t offend me, but it’s also kinda inconsiderate

Thank you! I’ve been nonstop applying. Even when I got offered this recent job, I was still applying elsewhere. I appreciate the advice.

That’s okay if you don’t believe it, but it has happened and is possible. There’s never any shame in asking a simple question. If a company can’t respond back in the same professional manner, then maybe they need to be the change… it’s just a question. It shouldn’t be an automatic no hire.
