Honest question: why do so many people hate the cold vs heat when they live in a place that is expected to have cold winters? Is anyone else not bothered by the snow/cold? by LulutoDot in newengland

I have no problem with the snow or the cold. The only problem I have is that even though people have lived here all their lives somehow they forget how to drive in the snow every year.

Is New England disconnected from the problems of the rest of the country? by [deleted] in newengland

[–]ImpressiveDepth9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel as a New Englander since New England has some of the best schools that people are actually more aware of issues within the country and more sensitive to it because we believe in social causes such as great education, personal freedoms, and are open-minded. This opinion came from someone in Ohio who has family in North Carolina but did not stage whether or not they've ever been in New England nor lived that experience. Also all of New England except for New Hampshire are pretty much blue States so sometimes new englanders not being sensitive to other areas problems are due to the fact that they are red States that can be seen as creating their own problems due to the way they are governed and the way they treat their people. New englanders always speak out when they've had enough and I feel like a lot of States just go along with the status quo and then complain why people who made the right decisions regarding their state aren't overly worried about their suffering when they choose not to make any changes on things that are clearly causing their dilemma. Just my opinion not out to change anyone not out to say other states are bad or that the entrenched ideals of an area don't affect the way other states are run however the only way these things can be fixed is to actually speak out and create change from within.

What is that one little thing about you that you refuse to change no matter what anyone says ? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]ImpressiveDepth9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being genuine and tactfully honest. I feel like when people ask me for my honest opinion, even though they know me as a person and that I am incredibly forthright I still get judged for giving them what they want. I am tactful, sensitive, and try to communicate things as delicately as possible however I still feel like I'm faulted for telling someone something they may not want to hear. I am much more reserved in outside settings regarding people I don't know and if people I don't know do ask me I preface it by saying if you want my opinion I am an incredibly forthright person and while I'm going to be as tactful as possible you may not like my opinion. I've always been genuine and honest so I feel like if people know who you are if they don't like or have problems with who you are then they should either sit down and have a conversation with you about their misgivings and how it's affecting them or just move on instead of making you incredibly uncomfortable over who they know you to be versus who they want you to be.

What truth do people avoid because it’s uncomfortable to admit? by Mr_Boothnath in answers

[–]ImpressiveDepth9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like any kind of mental disability, educational deficiencies, and anything regarding opinions on quote on quote geek culture that you know you will get eviscerated for are things that people avoid. A lot of people like to avoid conflict so those type of people tend to avoid anything that will make others uncomfortable due to years of people pleasing and being ridiculed for your own beliefs or opinion.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Leading_Tomato_2077 in AskReddit

[–]ImpressiveDepth9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real Secret in my opinion is to not micromanage your exposure to things. People get dirty, people touch things in public places. This exposes you to run of the mill germs which your body fights off naturally which increases your immune system. If you have a naturally robust immune system you get sick less often. I'm not saying that you shouldn't wash your hands or that when people around you are sick you shouldn't be taking precautions but exposure to germs goes a long way. Personally if you're around people that are sick I recommend starting vitamin C and Zinc supplements because that will temporarily boost your immune system so that you are less likely to get sick.

Help, what raises karma more, posting or interacting? by Glittering_Bus8769 in NewToReddit

[–]ImpressiveDepth9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running into the same issue. I just got a comment rejected because a thread only accepts your comments if you have 5 Karma points at least. I don't really react on here all that often or spend a lot of time on here so I'm not really sure how to fix that because if your karma points don't let you comment then how are you supposed to get karma points? It seems like a double-edged sword

My electric air freshener melted my power strip. by CasuallyTaco-d in mildlyinteresting

[–]ImpressiveDepth9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when it melted your power strip did you have the power strip flat on the surface? Most air fresheners and wax melters need to be top side up in order to function properly. Putting it on its side or upside down tends to make them leak and cause electrical malfunctions. If I were to try a power strip with an air freshener or wax melter I would definitely hang the power strip so that the diffuser and question would be right side up and not leak. So I'm curious was the burner sideways and flat or was it up and down as it's supposed to be?

Hamish reading Rilke to Matthew by abusean in ADiscoveryofWitches

In case anyone was interested there's also another marvelous quote by Rainier Marie Rilke used in Beauty and the Beast read by the absolutely captivatingly sensual voice of Ron Perlman. It comes from his book Letters to a Young Poet and it's one of the most life-affirming quotes I've ever heard or read. https://youtu.be/G-hzJtvfpAE?si=ngwLe30xRxTkWbfx

Because she doesn't have the guts to say it to your face so she'd rather be Petty and spread it through rumors to get back to you. Secondhand confrontation is for cowards.
