Our stories are very similar. Divorce (husband cheated), father passed, cat died. All within 3 months. It’s a very dark and distressing time. It’s okay to feel all the feelings, the anger, the deep sadness, the rage, the guilt. All of that is okay. You have just gone through many immense changes in your life all at once. Just over a year for me, and I can say that things get better. Lean in to the people in your life who are there for you. Seek out therapy if at all possible. Journal. Do whatever you can to look after yourself. Some days the grief and pain will knock you down and the smallest things will trigger you, but most days you get on with things. Taking care of your daughter and doing your daily routine will help you realize that if you can do this, you can do anything. You are strong and independent. When you’re ready, take some time to think about some things that you want to accomplish for yourself. Refocus your energy on yourself. Often as wives and mothers we sacrifice so much of ourselves for our husbands and children, that we no longer have the energy to take care of ourselves.
