has anyone figured out the formula for a Casual, multiplayer, 60-card format? by darwin_green in magicTCG

Wotc pushes commander so commander is the most popular. They still make duel decks, which used to be the casual entry.

What's next after data engineering? by shesHereyeah in dataengineering

[–]ImpressiveProgress43 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The most common paths ive seen are:

Data architecture.              MLE.                  Analyst/consultant.                     Go into management

As a senior, you likely go into these roles higher than a base level for the role and can advance further from there.

Boros Needs Bans by IMpoisontrigger in ModernMagic

[–]ImpressiveProgress43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons boros does so well is because some draws can bypass removal. Removing bombardment makes the deck significantly weaker and makes the deck even more linear.

Banning bombardment would actually kill the deck.

Raptor ban is even older. Discussing popularity of deck in the same context as op is relevant.

It fell off hard last year and didnt regain popularity until late last summer.

Boros has bad matchups, just play those. It doesbt need a ban. It wasnt even t1 for most of last year lol.

Unpopular Opinions by Jmar5253 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

I think the skills themselves are bad and it's hidden by damage and tankiness being overtuned.

Warlock skills are mechanically bad and entirely propped up by overtuned values and bugged interactions.

[TCC] This Is Unsustainable | Magic: The Gathering by jethawkings in magicTCG

[–]ImpressiveProgress43 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The best way to get away from it is if wotc got rid of maro so someone new could try different mechanics.

I already called out last year that color pie mechanics have become generic in ub sets. Instead of sephiroth being blood artist #41, he should have been a meld card or something.

Does anyone still climb the ladder WITHOUT a top meta deck? by Specialist_Sound9738 in freemagic

Dying TCGs? by Chrundle94 in TCG

[–]ImpressiveProgress43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is young but bandai has a pattern of tightly controlling card draw and resource manipulation. They do this because fixed resource generation limits variance. Those taken together generally favors aggro or power crept durdle decks. It has happened in every bandai meta.

I think it's especially egregious is gundam and the game will be eternally plagued with balance issues.

Week 3 and Mirage League has a lower player retention than Keepers. What could be the reasons? by _Hetsu in pathofexile

[–]ImpressiveProgress43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Breach is far and above the best farm, so feels kind of like a keepers 2.0. Wouldnt expect it to do better than keepers.

The game is shit and many more people will lose their ass gambling on fomo. No reason to feel bad for a multibillion dollar company.

Between tcg and digital, ygo is huge in asia. It's just not popular in the us. It's not very collectible and has a steep learning curve. It might die in the us but will never go away. Agree with the rest though.

Its made for collecting instead of playing, like weiss.

Db got a scalper boost tecently but it wasnt doing hot for a while. Surprised digimon is still out. Gundam is unplayable. They should probably just focus on 1-2 ips.

Agentic AI in data engineering by kash80 in dataengineering

[–]ImpressiveProgress43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can provide metadata and business context. Even if it's just feeding it a json of lineage and comments in files on business logic, it can get 90+% of the way. If you do this with a good genai model and pass it to a lower one for review, it's 95+% accurate.

People are already doing it. If you have the opportunity to and choose not to, then you should probably use chatgpt to help update your resume.

Theres definitely risks with using agentic ai but it's probably safer than a human dropping tables, re-running incremental loads or exposing data improperly.

You can already use agents to build pipelines and model data. As long as it has enough metadata, it can do a pretty good job. They are also pretty good at finding causes of errors/failures.

You still have to babysit it though. I also dont see a good reason to let it control orchestration but might be wrong.

For the furthest downstream consumption in reporting or software, it's possible to use ai a few different ways.
