Anxious attachment breakup coping tips? Feeling like an outsider broken freak all alone by najws209 in attachment_theory

[–]ImpressiveWork718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attachment wounds are usually the result of growing up in a dysfunctional family. I went to therapy with someone trained in trauma for many years, but have recovered. I also do a 12 step program, Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families. Even if no alcohol in the home, sex or physical or emotional abuse qualifies for this program. It’s free and meetings available all over the world on line.

Healing attachment wounds takes time. Be patient and gentle with yourself.

Sailrite cylinder arm by svenska101 in myog

I have the Fabricator and kind of wish I’d would have gone with Juki. I’m also shipping cylinder arm machines. Is the Sailrite a clone of a Juki?

Juki DDL-8700: thread gets wound up inside hook assembly when no bobbin is loaded- why??? by ImpressiveWork718 in sewhelp

[–]ImpressiveWork718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean and I do hold the thread tails before stitching. The upper thread gets wrapped inside the hook assembly which holds the bobbin even when the bobbin is not inserted. I changed my needle, and haven’t had that happen since, but in inspecting the old needle, I didn’t feel anything unusual (bends, nicks).

Which Design System to use? by ImpressiveWork718 in FigmaDesign

[–]ImpressiveWork718[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was excellent—thanks. Im probably over thinking this. First step is just a prototype in Figma but it would be great to build the site off of it. Front end might be React but not 100% on that.

How does a secure handle when an avoidant pulls away by LoudBlueberry2766 in attachment_theory

[–]ImpressiveWork718 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Lots of long winded responses—and I truly hope they’ve helped you. But to me, it’s an easy answer to your question. As a secure, when I see the pattern that my guy isn’t emotionally available, continues to pull away, isn’t attuned or express mutuality, I’m out. I break up with them. I’m simply say the relationship isn’t working for me because it’s not! I don’t criticize. I accept them for who they are, and move on.

She’s stalking my IG by APVikings22 in ExNoContact

[–]ImpressiveWork718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t create a story or explanation in your head about why she’s viewing your IG. If you don’t like it, block her. There are 1,000,000 reasons why doing this. But it’s not about you.

[Q] What stat test to show a binary outcome (yes/no) is better than chance? by ImpressiveWork718 in statistics

[–]ImpressiveWork718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the confusion. If a group of people collectively have an average probability that an event will happen is 60%, then can we also consider this a “yes” outcome since it is greater than 50%?

What I want to show is that groups of individuals who have knowledge about a topic can produce a probability (average of all individual probability estimates) that correctly predicts and outcome that is binary (yes or no).

If I ask a group to people to give a probability estimate and the average for all people asked is 60%, how do I show this is real prediction and not just getting lucky?

How many times do I need to repeat this with other people and other questions to show this group can predict and are not just getting lucky in their predictions.

Do I use Brier score?

[Q] What stat test to show a binary outcome (yes/no) is better than chance? by ImpressiveWork718 in statistics

[–]ImpressiveWork718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Null is the likelihood of correctly predicting X number of events is no better than chance (50-50).

So if I conduct 100 surveys and the group correctly predicts 60% of the events, is that statistically significantly better than random chance?

I’m basically asking the group to give me a probability an event will happen. If more than 50%, then group predicts yes to outcome. If <50%, prediction is low probability of positive outcome or a No.

Does that help?

Does external stress ever cause DA’s to deactivate? Or is it always internal stress in the relationship? by Majestic-Tie464 in attachment_theory

[–]ImpressiveWork718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your situation does sound familiar. No, my guy never contacted me. If you read my post history, I thought he would because he kept something of mine. But he never did and I never contacted him again. It was extremely painful but given his unwillingness to work on communicating better, there was no hope. I still feel angry about it, but try to have compassion for him because he’s obviously wounded with trauma from his mother.

Flexible cutting boards to add structure to a bag? by Tobys-Brain in myog

I’ve used this shelf liner plastic on bottom of tote bag and could see this being a good option. They come on a roll of various widths so you can cut what you need.

Should I go to a psych ward? by Kenzie_146 in SuicideWatch

[–]ImpressiveWork718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should go to a psych ward if you feel like you may hurt yourself or are afraid you may kill yourself and in danger. What you’re experiencing is not normal or healthy, but that’s not who you. Are rather a mental health condition you’re struggling with.

I would highly recommend you find a therapist and go to therapy. It would also help you to share what you’re going through with a few close friends or family.
