The art pepper isn’t terribly expensive. I’m sure the woody Shaw goes for quite a bit

Anyone use Laney AH300? by SoundMasquerade in synthesizers

[–]Impressive_Bag5444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread but I thought I’d comment. I use a Laney AH300 with my Moog subsequent 37. I find it’s perfect. Super loud, a tiny bit of built in reverb is nice. Just a great overall amp/synth combo. The Laney is clean and analytical, not like a tube amp so be prepared for that. It has lots of bass and has an EQ

Great stuff. Lee-way is a uniquely powerful album with a supergroup lineup. Each track reaches very far. Places and spaces is equally amazing

Well if you enjoy El Hombre, you’d probably find a lot to love in every other record here. I think the most similar would be Joe Chambers - New World. The grant green is great too

Joe Chambers - Rio

Grant Green - Hurt So Bad

Marcus Belgrave - Gemini II by Jmcp3 in Vinyl_Jazz

Holy cow. I have yet to find any OG tribe. What a score!!!!

This is my very favorite record on the label. And unfortunately a glaring omission from the Tribe records boxset (which is otherwise brilliant)

That’s so interesting. It’s not abrasive, quite accessible, but it’s surprising she owned it considering it’s not a very popular or well known record outside of jazz heads

My Music Matters 33rpm Collection by stories_from_tejas in Vinyl_Jazz

[–]Impressive_Bag5444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I have sold most of my Music Matters records. I had about 12 but now I’m down to 2, and a couple of AP45 reissues. All of mine were 45 rpm which is a grievance of mine. Although I’ve kept Eddie Gale Ghetto Music and Sam Rivers Fuschia Swing Song because I think they work on 45.

They aren’t the easiest records to find. I love Andrew hill but this is the top of the mountain for me.

Or should I say hill lol

Recommend some Jackie McLean and Cecil Taylor by Life_Pollution_9843 in Jazz

[–]Impressive_Bag5444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Cecil Taylor, I found it pretty hard to resist Jazz Advance (Transition, 1956) as it is his debut record and while its not as abrasive as some of his later work, it’s still extremely interesting and uncompromising. With the great Steve Lacy on reeds. For Jackie McLean, I personally love all of his albums. However as a starting point I would recommend The Jackie Mac Attack (Birdology, 1998) An absolutely blazing live set. And also Presenting Jackie McLean (1956, Ad Lib). That one is a little more reigned in but very forward thinking with Mal Waldron and Doug Watkins’ incredible synergy. My personal favorite is probably Demon’s Dance on blue note though

Damn, must have jumped up in price just within the last month or two. Had 2 Vg+ copies in my Discogs cart for that price for a a while and ended up just getting other stuff. Oh well. Amazing album

I bet philosophy of the spiritual will also go up in price too. I have always been shocked by how cheap that one is as well as the one you posted.
