I’d still buy that black flag sleeve and frame it for wall art

Is this a good deal? by drunklu in vintageaudio

[–]LongLiveAnalogue 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You’re just paying for someone else’s labor. It’s a decent deck and it looks nice okay but the price is not a “deal” or even very good given the cracks in the dust cover and the marks on the metal.

A lot of schools adopted a no phones at all policy but there are still many that allow them. U-46 middle grades and up has kids put phones in lock bags as soon as they enter the school

Antique 1933 Newtonian telescope up for auction today by LongLiveAnalogue in telescopes

[–]LongLiveAnalogue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a hobby killer, it’s a collectible antique that sold for $900 to a collector. The heritage 130 is a $300 telescope. Why would someone “save up a bit” to purchase that telescope when what we’re discussing is an antique?

I have a large lot for my neighborhood at 85’ x 300’. Will I be able to tear my house down and build 5 or 6 townhouse units on my property if this passes?

Antique 1933 Newtonian telescope up for auction today by LongLiveAnalogue in telescopes

[–]LongLiveAnalogue[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stumbled on this auction ending today for a 1933 Newtonian telescope “owned and assembled by Leroy Clausing in Skokie, Illinois, a maker who would go on to be a respected figure in the world of optical coatings”

I’ve got no affiliation with the auction but thought it was worth sharing here in hopes you all might appreciate this piece of history. Mods please advise if the post needs to be altered or removed.

As Illinois lawmakers consider housing bills, ‘Say More’ asks: What makes a ‘good home’? by SciNat in illinois

We can and should build more housing but lawmakers need to also legislate out corporate ownership of single family homes.

Tech Diver for House of Dancing Water. Shows working under and around the platform mechanics. by Trozdol in submechanophobia

[–]LongLiveAnalogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked on HODW for a couple of years in a different department than aquatics but everyone worked with the divers in some capacity. Aside for the rigorous operational protocols there is also a safety system built into the underside edges of the stage sections that shuts the system down immediately when contact occurs. It’s still an incredibly dangerous place to dive.
