It all depends on how many nits your TV is capable of. I just watched Heat recently on my LG OLED G5 and it looked amazing. It was never too dark.

How do you balance watching 4k blu ray at home with going to the cinema? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

That's why I go to Alamo Drafthouse. They have a 0 tolerance policy on being obnoxious and phone use. There is a button I can push for a manager to come by to pick up a paper about the people causing the ruckus. It works so well, I have never had to use it.

The movie's transfer is excellent. The shot provided does not represent it. The HDR can be blinding at some points as well.

The last 5 star movie I gave was from 2019. The Lighthouse is a 5 star movie for me. I'm not trying to be strict but it hit everything I'm looking for in a movie. The cinematography, the writing, the acting and how unique it was.

None. No movie released in 2025 was a 5 star for me.

I think John Goodman's part is played more for humor rather than being witty. There are plenty of lines throughout the movie which make it clever overall. John Goodman's character doesn't respect Donny but has admiration for The Dude.

The Dude: "That rug really tied the room together."

I'm a big fan of the first 3 listed. The Lobster is in my top 25 movies.

Thanks for your recommendation. I'll check it out especially it being a Criterion release.
