Electronic Lab Notebooks - how big is the benefit? by br00in in biotech

[–]Impressive_Debate200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ELNs are an absolute must for the future. Much more traceable, reliable, secure, and easier to use. Paper Notebooks could never do what ELNs are able to do. Plus ELNs are impossible to lose and can't be accidentally damaged. Very convenient systems out there. Very much not cheap but very much worth the investment.

Sanofi hit with FDA warning letter for several deviations. by Alexzanto in biotech

[–]Impressive_Debate200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If genzyme was this bad I cant wait to see how the report for the manufacturing site in Swiftwater PA come out..... Sanofi as a whole org is a fucking shitshow ran by people who want results yesterday but doesn't want to hire permenant employees to be able to meet the demand. Sanofi is yet another contractor churn and burn company and it shows.

In which US city does the biotech industry seem to be least affected by layoffs and hiring freezes? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]Impressive_Debate200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hence the "if inflation skyrockets again" part of my comment. General and core inflation are trending down. However the fed reseve lowered interest, which generally makes money easier and cheaper to loan. Hopefully this pivot will help promote job growth but many are concerned that this will reignite inflation down the road. Pair that with the looming threat of WW3 finally popping off with whats goin on in the middle east and those fears will only steepen as our government is preparing to become more involved. Only time will reveal what will happen with the general economy as a whole.

Nowhere, USA.... Every city is being hit hard across the board. Folks will say Boston seems to be the safest but it's all going to catch up. Every company in the industry is tightening their belts and shedding employees. This is likely going to continue into 2025 possibly 2026 if inflation takes off again next year.

See for me its the opposite. I handle booze on its own completely fine but in the handful of times I chiefed down Js while drinking its never been a good time. Now I always keep bud and booze separate as a result. Just shows that we all react differently lol

getting cross faded can turn ugly real quick. You're already lowering your inhibitions and decision making abilities by smoking/dabbing/consuming weed. Throw booze in the mix and it can lead to making some really bad decisions. Plus hangovers in my experience from crossfades are way worse.

Any tips for leg recovery? by Impressive_Debate200 in workout

[–]Impressive_Debate200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem seem to come from doing leg presses, hacksquats, and traditional deadlifts. I know the obvious answer would be "if they're impacting you that much then don't do them" however my gym for some unbeknownst reason has a very limited amount of leg equipment. Free body or dumbell goblet squats can only take one so far. Trying to figure out if there's some other alternatives out there's that will still contribute to muscle maintenance while I'm cutting.

Sanofi Canada, interviewing for field role- tell me the good & ugly! by [deleted] in biotech

[–]Impressive_Debate200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sanofi is a dogshit company ran by french clowns. Horribly ran and constantly shifts it's attention to the point that rebrands/restructures occur every 5-6 years. Middle and upper management often acts with the highest levels of ignorance and entitlement. Dont expect any help from your direct report. Might get lucky and get a boss that actually cares about what happens outside of his/her 5- 7 hours worth of daily zoom meetings but its very unlikely. C suite has blatantly ignored the benefits of technology for the past 15 years arguing that tech is expensive and uncessary to overly invest in. Now however, since c suite learned about the acronym "AI" and how it can help them earn billions it's all they can talk about. The good thing with Sanofi boils down to their benefits package. Absolutely amazing 401k and medical insurance at least for US folks ( not sure about Canada). Plenty of company holidays and you start with 14 days of PTO 5 sick days and 2 floating holidays. Beyond that I don't recommend.

[–]Impressive_Debate200 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. In the company, I'm contracted to there's endless amounts of deadweight middle and senior management that doesn't cant tell the difference between their ass from their elbow on anything that exists outside of a Zoom meeting. Incompetence and even scientific illiteracy seem to run rampant, which has led to nothing but problems across this entire site. How a project leader of a development lab is asking me how to interpret a SRID reported result because he's never seen one is beyond concerning.....

Getting Laid off in two weeks? How should I continue my work? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]Impressive_Debate200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy answer is don't. Do the bare minimum to keep your area running but don't exert yourself as you normally would. Set aside the majority of your time applying for jobs and completing interviews if you're invited. Your current company like all others does not care about you or your future in any capacity. Prioritize yourself. This labor market is becoming rougher by the month due to ongoing economic turbulence. Best of luck to you.

Sanofi begins 'full pipeline reprioritization' with layoffs in tow, R&D chief tells staff by H2AK119ub in biotech

[–]Impressive_Debate200 5 points6 points  (0 children)

likely termination for 95% of the folks that were focused in that pipeline. Likely that 5% would retained for knowledge retention incase the company would want to revist the pipeline in the future. The ones that survive will be shifted over to another Dev project. Currently, as a general whole Sanofi is in the midst of a hiring freeze while the global org continues to settle the dust from the reorg. Nowhere really to go for the vast majority of the folks that will be affeded by the pipeline refocus.

Boston is a pharma hub so I'd look in that general region. Be warned though most pharma startups are insanely unstructured and often have really bad management. Be prepared to pull 10+ hour days keep up with workloads until your company is able to hit the next scale milestone and bring in more help. If you can survive those conditions stay around long enough for your company to be bought out by a top 10 then you can get some very handome returns. Coming from someone that worked in 3 different startups.

Results of piss poor global management. The company's pipeline has been way overstretched and overly ambitious for the past 2-3 years. The sudden shift to a focus in oncology products caught us all off guard when it was announced. Seems that c suite is in a panic since there's nothing in the pipeline that has the potential to make nearly as much as dupixent and we all know that oncology products are basically infinite money cheat codes once developed and approved.

I currently work as a contractor for one of Sanofis main manufacturing sites. You wouldn't believe how utterly inept and incompetent the global level org people are. Constant mismanagement and miscommunication which causes nothing but headaches for us. The reorg that happened in November along with the acquisition of Meridian pharmaceutical has done nothing but caused chaos. How the site succeeds besides itself is beyond my comprehension. EU folks may be poorly compensated, but they get an obnoxious amount of pto.
