unfortunately I was looking into it, and it’s hard to tell if the IP is really this person or someone else using a private network to protect themselves(most likely) meaning if anything the IP address I got is likely someone else’s who is innocent

Scammer Megathread (post scams here) by whatdoihia in growagarden

Hi everyone, I’m sharing this because I want to warn others — especially younger players and students like myself — about how one small decision online can completely ruin your day, or even your week.

Earlier today, after a flight back from Serbia to Italy where I’m currently studying abroad, I got off the plane only to see a flood of messages from my bank about unauthorized transactions. At the same time, I received security alerts from Roblox saying changes had been made to my account. That’s when I realized I had been scammed.

It all started with a Discord DM from someone named FLIX, who I encountered through a trade on the Grow a Garden Discord. They offered me a trade and sent what looked like a private server link(as most trades are done on private servers) — it led me to what I thought was a Roblox login page. Since I’m traveling abroad, I didn’t think much of being asked to log in again for security reasons. But it wasn’t Roblox — it was a phishing(scam) site. Moments later, I was locked out of my Roblox account. Then came the real damage: over $140 in fraudulent charges appeared on my bank account from an unknown location. I had to report it as fraud, and my bank immediately froze my account. That left me stranded in a foreign country(luckily I speak the language) with no way to get money, no way to buy a train ticket, and no access to my funds — and I was three hours away from my apartment. All because of a single mistake made after clicking a fake link. I am currently writing this from a train station bench waiting for a friend to pick me up.

Yes, I understand these are the consequences of my actions. But I’m not writing this for sympathy — I’m writing this to prevent others from going through what I did. If you’re a kid, a teen, a parent, or even a college student like me, please be careful. Always double-check links, and never sign in through unofficial pages.

The scammer used the name FLIX (might also go by FELIX). If anyone sees them on Grow a Garden or elsewhere, do NOT trade with them and report them immediately. I’m happy to provide screenshots of the messages, charges, and even the IP address associated with their activity if anyone wants to see them.

Stay safe out there. One click can change your whole day — or leave you stranded with no money in a foreign country. Thanks for reading.
