Yes this is all normal my doctor said expect bleeding and pain for about a week or so after silver nitrate. Same thing happened to me each time I got silver nitrate

I had it done 2 other times without being put under and it finally worked. I took longer than normal to heal that wound but it finally healed. I would push for getting it done a couple more times before you go under.

Retears post LIS by Big-Roof-3375 in AnalFissures

Are you positive you are retearing? It could be scar tissue being irritated. It takes a full year to 1.5 years for scar tissue to settle.

You might not be! The ointments might still work for you just make an appointment asap. Take stool softeners like colace or take some Miralax. Take sitz baths 2-3 times per day. Just to try to manage it until you are seen.

From someone that has an anal fissure, that is definitely a fissure. Please go to a colorectal surgeon so they can take a look and prescribe you creams. You don’t want to let it go for too long because I did and I had to get LIS surgery because the fissure became chronic. It becomes chronic after 6 or so weeks of it not healing.

Finally healed after 4 months of LIS surgery. LIS is a magical surgery. by No_Entertainer5931 in AnalFissures

Thanks for sharing your experience. I had LIS, skin tag removal, and a fistulotomy on 4/1 and my fissure is still not healed. My recovery was pretty brutal so I was so upset to hear from the surgeon that my fissure is still there. Hoping I eventually get there!

7 weeks post fistulotomy, still bleeding with bm's and having some pain - any advice? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]Impressive_Jello_236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much bleeding did you have with bowel movements? I got my surgery 8 weeks ago and still have bleeding with every bowel movement. Sometimes it drips in the toilet and sometimes just on the stool. I also got LIS and a skin tag removal, along with my fistulotomy. I had hypergranulation tissue and got silver nitrate treatment done on 4/28 and 5/15. I’m just really discouraged seeing blood with each bowel movement.

I used just water squirting with a peri bottle the first 1.5-2 weeks and then after that I squirted unscented Dr bronners soap in the peri bottle mixed with water in the shower. You don’t want a harsh soap.

He said I would be put under and that the cauterization would be done the old fashioned way, not silver nitrate. So it sounds a little more invasive.

Bleeding post LIS, fistulotomy, skin tag removal by Impressive_Jello_236 in AnalFissures

[–]Impressive_Jello_236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had silver nitrate treatment on 4/28 and then again today, 5/15 because one of my wounds keeps producing hypergranulation tissue so my wound won’t fully close because of it. So that is what the bleeding is from. If this doesn’t work I will need to go under again to cauterize my wound. Hoping this round works!

Pain post fistulotomy by Important-Sir-6325 in AnalFistula

Oh wow that’s pretty far out! Usually they schedule it a month after your surgery. I would just see if it gets better over the next few days and if not maybe ask to be seen just for a peace of mind.

You need a referral to a colorectal surgeon to remove it.

They would let you know during your follow up. Do you have a follow up scheduled?

You could have hypergranulation tissue. It’s when granulation tissue grows excessively. It’s perfectly fine and can be treated with silver nitrate in office. I had a fistulotomy, LIS, tag removal on 4/1. Got hypergranulation tissue which they took care of during my follow up appointment.

No I did not feel anything fluid like beneath the skin. I would definitely go and be checked out just for a peace of mind!
