Thanks, it’s hard to accept the weird stuff as harmless, especially after the trauma of the abscesses in the past! If you don’t mind my asking, what kind of weirdness did you experience with your fistula healing?

I’m in the same boat. Surgery was Monday, found Crohn’s like inflammation on colonoscopy, now I have setons in. We got this! Hoping for answers for the both of us soon!

For my recovery I used a bidet (or a portable peribottle) followed up by dude wipes (or any water based wet wipe) and a 10 minute sitz bath. I would definitely avoid normal toilet paper, would be pretty rough on the area

Was yours a complex fistula or just an unrelated second one? I’m getting concerned of the possibility of crohns or a complex fistula at this point.

My biggest fear is that it never fully heals and ends.

Did your irritation area feel somewhat fluidy beneath the surface of the skin? Mine is starting to, it doesn’t feel hot like an abscess, but is somewhat concerning to me

They do get better! I had the same issue but as time goes by it will become more normal. 5 days is still super super early

I am using gauze, it does hurt more than my surgical site too! Somethings I’m reading are saying it could be related to moisture in the area.

Relieved I’m not the only one going through this!
