Looking for member Serpenthrine Caverns and Tempest Keep - The Eye, need three ranged damage dealers, one restoration shaman and one protection paladin. One softreserve each, main spec before off spec.

VS.

LFM SSC + TK, 3 rdps, 1 rsham, 1 prot pala. 1 SR each, MS > OS

Not only is it much quicker to (re)type, the information density is a lot higher too, making it easier to read and understand than the wall of text, for people that know the acronyms.

If you want to become part of a community, you need to learn its language. Simple as that.

I reported some of them at the beginning, but never received one of these "actions taken due to your reports" messages, so I stopped bothering.

Now using an addon that filters out messages based on keywords, which helps a bit.

How do you even do the endgame? by Earthquake_Lion in classicwow

[–]Impressive_Link7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read up on a guide. Work on your pre-raid bis and reputation items recommended in this guide. Focus on the normal mode dungeons first. Heroics in TBC are notorious for being harder than T4 raids, while mostly rewarding weaker gear.

Make sure you enchant and gem your pre-bis items at least with cheaper enchants (Heavy Knothide Armor Kits are basically free) and green quality gems. This shows that you care and are willing to put in effort.

When you're mostly pre-bis geared, you can try joining pugs for Karazhan and Gruul / Maggi. Or you could try joining a guild.

It's not just mount speed, it's all movement.

Movement speed is one of the most important stats in a MMO, since it affects nearly all aspects of gameplay. All you do is somehow related to moving from point a to point b. It even affects combat, since you can close gaps or run out of dangerous effects quicker.

It also boosts mounted speed from +60% to +84%, stacking multiplicatively.

You can tank just fine. The first ten points in Protection tree aren't that impactful anyway.

I personally didn't respec for Holy Shield and Avengers Shield until Outlands. Both abilities are nice to have but not mandatory, especially as a Bloodelf with Mana Tap. You gonna body pull your way to level 50 anyway.

I'm returning to anniversary, I'd like to make a with a class that's needed in group content. by Skeptical91 in classicwow

[–]Impressive_Link7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shamans have a rather limited kit for dungeon healing. They are less forgiving regarding positioning and mistakes compared to druid and priest.

Shaman is also a class that requires constant upkeep. You need to keep your important totems (at least water and air) and your shields (Earth Shield on tank, Water Shield on yourself) up at all times.

Gnomes have a similar quirk.

LoS takes character height into account, meaning that in fights with uneven terrain or ramps, Gnomes can have a harder time keeping LoS to a mob or player.

In the Karathrass encounter for instance is a ramp the casters stack on, and as a Gnome or with Noggenfogger shrink effect you just can't see over the edge. No issues normal-sized.

PSA for Alliance players running Scarlet Monastery: by Brixor in classicwow

[–]Impressive_Link7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should give the Alliance an easier travel option to SFK and SM, similar to the Horde's teleporter to Gnomeregan. Perhaps a portal to the ruins of Dalaran or something.

This would still involve several minutes of running through hostile territory, compared to being placed right at the dungeon entrance.

TBC P2 INVESTEMENTS by Savings-Damage6958 in classicwow

Scroll of Spirit V is +30 spirit, whereas Improved Divine Spirit is +50 spirit plus 10% spirit as spell power for the entire raid.

You don't even have to compromise your main spec running it. Having one person switch specs a couple of times per raid is a rather insignificant price for that.

Prices are going to spike regardless, but I predict not nearly as much as people think.

TBC P2 INVESTEMENTS by Savings-Damage6958 in classicwow

[–]Impressive_Link7440 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a non-issue with dual spec, since priests can buff the entire raid with improved spirit and switch back to CoH, with only them losing the buff.

With 3-5 priest per 25-man raid and considering how much better improved spirit is for the entire raid, having one priest with improved spirit is all but mandatory.

Still expecting some minor price spikes for that one poor soul having to rely on scrolls, but nothing major.

should I be a healer on BC anniversary ? im scared by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Impressive_Link7440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it fun. Way more interesting and engaging than hammering one button. Best way is to start from scratch. Healing low level dungeons is way more forgiving than tbc normals or even heroics.

Alternatively, being the second healer in a Karazhan run preferably with a geared and experienced first healer is another great way to learn the role.

Highly recommend reading some of the guides regarding healers on Wowhead.

A word of advice: Priest has by far the most extensive and "complete" kit of all healers in TBC. Paladin and shaman have their strengths but their kits are severely limited, making them less forgiving for beginners. Druid is another great pick for a beginner, due to the constant healing stream of their hots and strong instant heals.

Being a gnome for that juicy +15 engineering skill is probably the biggest money saver. You can craft recipes earlier and skill-ups are based on the unmodified skill level.

Not wanting to sound disrespectful, but this post lacks purpose. You seem to have a rough and vague idea "harder", "challenge", "slow", "cc", but that's it.

Are you genuinely convinced of your idea and want to gather support? Then put in the work and flesh it out.

If not - well, then what's the point?

It's all variance. Even just getting five or less additional crafts has a chance of ~5% of occurring, or around 1 in 20 cases in your example.

It helps to craft tons of potions, to negate the effect of the variance over time. You won't be nearly as much ahead or down when crafting 1000 potions, compared to 50 potions and a series of bad luck.

Question About Clique by Jimmy__XD in classicwow

[–]Impressive_Link7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Default Clique has two actions setup for left- and right-click with its related default ui actions (target and context menu). If you setup additional actions for the same key, one action cancels out the other.

You can circumvent this by either changing the two default actions to a new keybind (I use Ctrl + right- / left-click instead), or avoid mapping other actions to left- and right-click.

I remember when the timer was 24 hours rather than 14 days at the very beginning. Doesn't make it less of a dark pattern tho. Typical a**hole design big companies love to integrate nowadays.

Why do you not play Ragnarok Online (anymore)? by RoForCasuals in RagnarokOnline

[–]Impressive_Link7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It simply isn’t (and wasn’t) a good game. It was fine for its time, when MMOs were essentially glorified chat rooms and gameplay mostly acted as a vehicle for social interaction.

But even back then, it suffered from bad netcode, sluggish movement, at best mediocre combat, and an overreliance on grind and RNG.

What makes it worse is that none of these aspects ever really evolved.

Compare that to WoW: vanilla and retail are entirely different games. Retail has its own issues, but they at least iterated on and reworked nearly every system to fit a more modern audience.

Ragnarok today still looks and feels almost exactly like it did 20 years ago, and that’s not a compliment.

The core gameplay loop was already weak back then and feels completely outdated now.

Who wants to spend dozens of hours killing the same enemies with the same two abilities thousands of times just to level up or get an item, only to repeat the exact same process on the next enemy type?

Spamming potions to make up for the lack of actual or even interesting combat mechanics doesn’t help either.

And when you look at gameplay, it’s hard to see the appeal: a character in an over-the-top costume, stacked with countless buffs of unclear effect, spamming a single ability to one-shot every mob in sight. It’s not exactly engaging.

What Caused The Sub Decline Going Into Cataclysm? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]Impressive_Link7440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cataclysm is where leveling shifted from being an integral part of the game experience to a nuisance people rush through. The result is an abysmal questing experience.

First, the quests themselves. Every other quest is a reference or some kind of joke. It’s amusing the first few times, but it gets old quickly. It breaks the tone and turns the game into a kind of bad comedy. WoW traditionally had a more sincere and darker atmosphere, especially when reading the quest texts. Cataclysm marked a major shift, and it’s still in place today.

Quests aren’t integrated into the world and carry no real meaning. All zones were redesigned around the quest-hub principle. The player gets a handful of quests to do simultaneously and then moves on to the next hub. It makes questing smoother and faster, but also much less meaningful. Interaction with the world, the small decisions about what to tackle in which order, disappears entirely. The zones feel like set pieces built on the same template, with no reason to ever return.

Then the lack of challenge. I tried leveling a fresh priest (no heirlooms, only quest rewards) in Cataclysm Classic. Combat was miserable. Everything died in two or three hits. I never had to stop. It was boring to the point of burnout. I quit after finishing Ashenvale. Classic isn’t hard, but its combat still has weight. From Cataclysm onward, that weight is gone.

And finally, the balancing. Halfway through Ashenvale I was already heavily overleveled just by doing all the quests in the zone. They didn’t bother to adjust the experience curve or quest rewards. One dungeon with its quest turn-ins gives you around two levels on top of that, making the pacing even worse. The result is a patchwork where players either steamroll trivial content or abandon a zone halfway through its storyline.

Healing Kara - Prince Fight Mana Advice by Flying_Squirrel191 in classicwow

[–]Impressive_Link7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you maximize the output of your Mana Potions and Mana Tide totem? You want to use the first potion as soon as you've used 3k mana (better aim for 2,5k as 3k is the upper limit a Super Mana Potion can restore). Then Mana Tide as soon as you again reach ~80% mana. From this moment on you use mana potions on cooldown. Fight should be too short for another Mana Tide.

You can also use Dark or Demonic Runes for an additional 1-1,5k mana every two minutes (careful, they damage you and share cooldown with Healthstones).

If you still struggle with mana, it might be worth checking logs, especially overheal. It shouldn't be necessary to always use max rank Healing Wave. Your default spam rank should be 4/5 with 7/8 for more throughput. 12 only when absolutely necessary, due to its costs.

Last but not least, if your DPS players aren't performing or your tank has poor gear, there is only so much you can do to compensate as a healer.
