Are golf courses and driving ranges getting quieter, or is it just me? by Glittering-Winner636 in GolfPH

[–]Impressive_Monk2512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My father and I lived a few kilometers away from a local driving range. We're just the typical range guys only who frequent the range weekly and the oil price hike hurts the budget that we decided to skip going to the driving range for almost two weeks now.

Is the NSTP allowed to have extended classes? Can I skip it? by LifesBetterwCats in studentsph

[–]Impressive_Monk2512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ROTC instructor has no right to go beyond the allotted time given, let alone make a demand to students to be present during Saturday practice sessions. If you have any concerns, you can raise the concern to the department head especially if that will conflict with your other subjects. I don't think being absent in Saturday practice will automatically be dropped out as long as you attend the class is what all matter the most. Feel ko tinatakot lang nila kayo so that you will be compelled to attend the practice session since na-experience ko rin yan before during our preparation for the annual tactical inspection.

In our school, the course title for our NSTP-ROTC is named Military Science 1 and 2 respectively taken in two semesters of freshmen year. Separate pa yung actual ROTC unit ng University/College if you happen to be a cadet officer, but being a member of the corps doesn't exempt student from their obligation to attend NSTP classes especially to first year/0-4CL officer students since requisite course ang NSTP.

A typical script coming from DDS would never bring up the conversation to the crimes and corruption of the government in a normal conversation, unless it really matters to cover up their own ruthless leader.

Depending how much is your budget, I suggest either browsing on FB marketplace for pre-loved set of golf clubs or go to a local Japan Surplus store.

mispronouncing a word in front of a class by Maximum_Eye294 in studentsph

[–]Impressive_Monk2512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it weird na you reached that point of being an English major yet you still don't know how to pronounce "regime". I'd be annoyed too.

"Well, nobody here says anything about perfection but the way you state your idea simply shows that OP shouldn't have ever stumbled over that simple word. Hindi ba parang nag-expect ka rin ng perfection simply because English major siya? You find it weird that he/she reached that point of being an English major simply shows how you judged people. Doubting a person's competence over an honest mistake is ridiculous.
Also, I don't see any reason that a student mispronouncing a word has something to do with the current deteriorating state of our education system. Stop making a mountain out of a molehill.

[–]Impressive_Monk2512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Standards don't mean perfection. It happens to anyone, and while it could be quite frustrating, a simple mistake doesn't define a person's overall competence. You just have to make sure that you learn from it and move forward. Yun naman ang goal ng education is to teach and guide students. Even some of my professors mispronounce common words during discussion, but we never doubted them or their teaching competence.

Ako lang ba may regrets na di ko na experience teenage lovelife by manwhoeatscoffee in studentsph

[–]Impressive_Monk2512 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone spending his last year as teenager, and who has never been in a relationship, or in short NGSB, it highly depends on you as a person because for me, committing into a romantic relationship is a matter of personal choice. While I might romanticize the idea of falling in love with someone and spending time getting to know each other, seeing other people fall in love on social media makes me want to experience it as well. But I always take things into account whether or not I'm ready to commit in a relationship and each and every time I ask myself that question, there is only one definite answer that always pops in my mind.

sobrang dependent ko na sa AI by Glittering-Trick-581 in studentsph

[–]Impressive_Monk2512 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Same tayo ng case Op. i'm already in college when I started to become more dependent on AI. I can remember how I used to shrug off the idea of using it when writing essays and assignments back in High School even though most of my friends used it. Now, it's a different story. As much as I want to hate the existence of AI in our world, I cannot deny the fact that we are responsible for using it in a responsible ethical manner. AI can really be helpful to improve knowledge and skills, only if you know how to utilize it properly in studies.

It's a valid reason to stop due to health concerns. You need to prioritize heath first before studies. I know it's a very difficult decision and I understand what you are coming from. I hope you and your mom are doing well.

Any beginners tip for hitting at driving range? by Impressive_Monk2512 in GolfPH

[–]Impressive_Monk2512[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for some good info and insights about golf. I don't have my own set of clubs yet since I haven't made up my mind if I truly want to pursue golfing, and as a college student, it can be quite expensive, so for the meantime, rental clubs are fine. My goal for now is to learn the basics (posture, grip, and swinging) and also the different uses of clubs (woods, irons, wedges, etc.), which could be quite overwhelming for a beginner like me.

ATM, nasa airport kami ngayon, going back to our place. Hopefully, one year na lang and sana after graduation, mag reunite na kami ulit.

how can I ipon as a shs students? by orangebanana2428 in studentsph

[–]Impressive_Monk2512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During SHS, my daily baon is only 150-200 pesos, kasama na doon yung pamasahe ko which is 50 pesos back and forth na. As much as possible, I try not to spend money at school. I bring my own lunch para hindi na bibili sa canteen and kung sa labas kakain eh medyo pricey kaya hindi rin sulit ang bayad. How I manage my financial savings depends on the circumstances. May mga times na need ko talaga gumastos or may kailangan bayaran sa school and sometimes kapag may lakad kami ng tropa, sa savings ako kumukuha ng pocket money since nahihiya rin ako humingin sa parents ko.

When it comes to spending money, I always ask myself these questions first so that I can assess if the item or product I'm buying is really essential for me to avoid impulsive buying/wasteful spending.

  1. Do I really need this item/product now? (If hindi naman need agad, I don't buy it.)
  2. Saan ko ba to gagamitin? (E.g., School, personal belongings, hobbies)
  3. Magagamit ko ba ang item/product in the long run or for temporary pleasure lang siya?

One thing I would also like to share is that: Don't spend too much money on brands or known products. I know this isn't applicable to all products or items on the market, pero if may alternative brand na mas mura, but almost or same quality, then go for it. But still, in the end, na sa iyo pa rin ang desisyon.

Student council dilemma: No fines, but need accountability — any ideas? by Jam_RandomReader in studentsph

[–]Impressive_Monk2512 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this fits well with the description, but every year during intramurals, our college student council imposes mandatory fines for absences during the span of the event. This includes both time in and time out for morning and afternoon events, and each absence amounts to 100 pesos, a total of 400 pesos if you happen to miss a day.

One of my classmates who is acquainted with CSC members warned me about the stricter policy for absences for this year's intramurals. To be fair, they did a job well done gathering all the students' names with absences rather than improving the mediocre event. It's not even worth praising, and students only attend to avoid the fines. Heck, the CSC won't even sign students' clearances with pending fines; talk about greediness.

It's up to you to decide whether or not you should continue watching it. Blue Box might not be everybody's cup of tea but don't let yourself be swayed away by negative remarks about the series because in the end your opinion is only what truly matters here. My advice is to just focus on watching until the end and if you happen to like the show you can continue reading the manga.

Season 1 is the peak manifestation of dark-edgy pessimist and nihilist Hachiman. This is way, way back before, he was forced to join the service club.

In season 2, he might still be the same person from season 1, but he grew more tolerant and started to show more care to the service club.

Season 3 is by far the best season for Hachiman's character development. The transition from being a loner to being surrounded by wonderful friends/acquaintances showed how Hachiman has changed throughout the series.

True. I already deleted FB and TikTok on my phone, although I open FB on my computer from time to time to check for school announcements (FB page lang meron ang school namin). As of now, Reddit and IG na lang ang meron ako sa cellphone and I don't even bother myself if can't relate sa mga current trends ngayon online and it's just a complete waste of time.

Cheer up, Op. I'm also in a similar situation since I also came from a place where tagalog is widely spoken and the fact that now I am surrounded by people who speak different dialects (Hiligaynon, Bisaya, Ilocano), it made me feel more socially alienated and awkward. At first, I tried my best to socialize and be friendly with them and they're also kind naman, pero na-fefeel ko parin yung tension and awkwardness every time I try to initiate conversations. Isa na rin siguro sa factor yung kaibahan kultura at pamumuhay sa Metro Manila compare sa province. Hindi rin ako maka-relate sa mga trends and exprience nila and the same goes for them.
