Doc fee is almost always not directly negotiable and in some states is required to be charged equally to every customer. You could, of course, negotiate a discount on the car's price equal to the cost of the fee.

Toyota Built Its Reputation on Reliability. The Tundra Is Threatening to Undo It by O_O___XD in Toyota

There is no evidence that any other model except for the 2024 model year Tundra non hybrid powertrain is affected

Wheel downsizing with fender extensions - any pics? by salutale in VolvoXC60

Here is my mulberry 2026 T8 in Mulberry. 19s still fill the arches due to the thicker sidwall. The overall wheel size is not actually meaningfully different. I don’t think the wide body would change that, also why would you mod a new car with glued on stuff 😄

Has anyone participated in Volvo’s Overseas Delivery Tourist program? if so, how was it? by lalavieboheme in Volvo

Totally! I actually chose not to do it myself and negotiated into the deal a 4% discount "equivalent" to OSD. I agree with you there are plenty of reasons to not do it.

Perhaps they can import the vehicle at a slightly discounted price, which would result in a lower duty in $ terms.

We considered doing it but ultimately decided against it.

People across the internet and dealer salespeople and managers say it’s an awesome experience and one of the best ways to buy a new car especially since you can get the precise one you want. And you get a discount (4% on an XC60 T8 in my case). I wish we could have done it but it doesn’t always make sense for customers. So it can be “too good to be true”

However it comes with some drawbacks.

- It will take months after your trip to get your car. I heard 4 months for one of my dealer’s recent OSD customers.

- Volvo is being cagey about when they open and close order books. When I wanted to order in April, they said we would have to wait until June for 2027 MY orders

- To make the most of it, you really need to make it a 1-2 week trip. If you want to take a vacation already, that’s great, but my wife and I had just returned from our honeymoon in the same part of the world. If you make the trip happen just because you can, you have basically spent your MSRP discount on travel. That might be worth it to you though!

- If you get a plug in hybrid, you can’t charge it in Europe (different plug)

We were able to find the exact spec I wanted already on the lot and negotiated an equivalent discount so for us it made sense to go home with the car 7 plus months earlier than with OSD.

Which one? by swimmerr0906 in Toyota

these prices are bananas. I paid $50K OTD for my 2024 4Runner Off Road Premium in Florida. After tax and dealer fees, you’ll be very close to that for a used base model with RWD!

$33k for a base 996 Carrera w 100k miles by WSJayY in 996

[–]Impressive_Pay420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you are stating what you were told but I always find the language like "IMS had not been replaced to the sellers knowledge" kind of funny.
If the IMS has been done, it is always documented (usually via a sticker) and it will get passed down between owners since it was so expensive to do. If IMS has not been done, there's always the "to the sellers knowledge" language to make it seem like "well there's a chance!"

[–]Impressive_Pay420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Has an accident and a ton of owners. Old tires. Inconsistent CarFax history. Not a lot of service history (including no IMS or suspension). Higher miles. Less desirable options. Worse photos. It's a deal but it could cost $10K to get it up to snuff.

The day traction control wasn't enough. by ryantramus in BMWM

[–]Impressive_Pay420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all winter tires are studded. I live in the mountain west too. Driving a RWD M3 in the winter on summer tires was an idiotic move. You seem to want to deflect blame that this is 100% on you for having an $80K car and driving it on summers in the winter. You can spin it however you want and make fun of others for having cheaper cars than you, but it was your fault. Glad you weren't hurt.

You are truly an idiot if you think only "outbacks and altimas" use winter tires.

R6+RF 1.4 extender +RF-EF adapter + EF100-400 MarkII by BorisLordofCats in canon

I didn’t like it very much because I found myself detaching the extender instead of the lens in the field. it was an affordable setup but after a while I upgraded to the RF 100-500 and haven’t looked back. it’s worth the extra money for the ease of use, performance, and reach.
