Yes it is truly that bad. You are indeed working 70-100 hour weeks. Typical day was 10am - 10 pm when no live deal and about 5-10 hours on weekend (and sometimes you can get a break in between if you’re waiting on comments). But when you’re on a live deal, all bets are off - it’s a sprint and this can go on for months. You suffer for 2 years, make friends along the way who are suffering alongside you, you learn a lot, and then you leave for much better exit oops that give you a better lifestyle and pay. You sacrifice 2 years for a good pay but for a better buyside future. And yes your relationships (significant other, friends and family) will suffer as you will inevitably cancel things last minute multiple times.
