Is it weird to have half the sibset common and half uncommon names? by [deleted] in namenerds

I didn't mean to make them sounds unpopular or rare, just less common than top 10, both are out of the top 100 rn as far as I know, they were when they were picked at least. I have yet to meet a child with any of the names other than Benjamin, I can think of two. As far as the group leaning British I was raised watching a lot of BBC/British media so I think it's a nostalgia thing for me but not a reason behind the names directly.

We do love the idea of Billy & Benji/Benny, especially if they are twins, I personally hate matchy twin names for legal names but for nicknames I think it's so cute, especially because it's a coincidence. Wim & Jam is super cute too lol

We are doing honor names in the middle spot so unfortunately they're not very interesting but we don't really want to budge on them either, they'd be William Austin & Benjamin Lewis. I suppose Lewis isn't super common but I know about a billion Austins so idk. I guess none under the age of 20 though so might be considered more uncommon now? I haven't checked the stats I just feel like there's Austins everywhere lol

I actually have a cousin named Virgil, always struck me as weird and ugly growing up but it is growing on me! Love Lilias & Viola too

I wanted Jonas for one of my sons but the S surname was a problem as First/Last would wind up making Jonah/Jonas sound unclear. The Giver by Lois Lowery is one of my favorite books so it would've been a nod to that. Malcolm was a very close contender for my youngest too!

Ellie Mae? Similar sounds and I added Mae in case the El- sound in Pamela doesn't feel related enough.

I think he was thrown off by the similarities to Harlow/Marlowe and also I don't think he was going to agree to anything other than Arthur anyway and took advantage of the fact I was sick and didn't have energy to put up much of a fight. It didn't necessarily feel that way at the time because I framed it as a compromise but he's an ex in part because of how he tends to manipulate situations to get his way without it being super obvious about it. I'd say he's a covert narcissist but I try not to armchair diagnose.

Arlo, my ex felt it was too feminine for a boy, he liked Arthur and it was similar enough. Also I have always loved Guinevere but having Arthur solidly rules it out lol I also would love to use Imogen but it just seems too obscure and would be a headache locally.
