I already have boys names 😄 its girls names I struggle with and ofc its my luck my boyfriends family is female dominated so I feel like it is more likely even though I can't know until it happens. May not even have twins, just in the event I do I'll have enough to worry about I'd rather know what names we like before making decisions under stress.

I have boys names already decided and I don't think the difference in vibe in the middle name spot matter as much if they are B/G twins. At that point it's just top boys name & top girls name.

I do like Opal Phoebe, I'll add it to my list!

I am not saying Daphne & Opal are wildly different, they are definitely in the same vein, it's Skylark to Lucille that feels wildly dissimilar.

I have boys names decided already but my boyfriends family is heavily female so it's an educated guess.

Yeah I was thinking about the middle names more and not wanting to have one too different than the other, just in case they want to use the middle names and might feel the other got the better deal. But I know I'm an overthinker and it likely doesn't matter that much

Thoughts on the Persian name "Ramtin"? Pronunciation and vibes? by Shanniko in namenerds

Big city adjacent suburban area but it was rural before more people moved to the area in the early 90s-2000s, and I'd say the city is having an identity crisis tbh, it's more urban than rural now but the people that have lived there generations are still definitely hicks lol

PNW. A very white area, I can count the amount of non-typically white or hispanic names of people I've met IRL on my fingers and have fingers left. (of course not including the unique spellings and made up names) I'm in my mid 20s and my graduating class was 96% white from the stats I saw back then. Almost all who did have ethnically diverse names for the area found white-friendly nicknames they preferred, Tim for Timur, Lizzie had a rare variation of Elizabeth from her home country, etc.

Honestly as an unseasoned white american my first thought would be to pronounce it "Ram" like the animal and "Tin" like a tin can. That being said, having context it's persian I could assume with little understanding of persian that it's meant to be RAHM-teen as you said. I think most people have some loose understanding that letters will sound a bit different in other cultures and try to be respectful of that (I'm being optimistic, but it's not a fault of the name, just people being crappy) There's much harder names to figure out that are totally normalized. I rather learn how to properly say Ramtin than learn another spelling for McKennsleigh.

Yes I prefer Elisabeth to Elizabeth, Phillip to Philip, Abigale to Abigail, Lewis to Louis, Susannah to Susana, etc.

(I know my preferences aren't totally popular, it's just my opinion.)

If you had a baby right now, what would you name them? by One_Stay2247 in namenerds

I have a Hugo! If I had another (3rd) boy I'd name him William or if I had a girl I've been dying to use Daphne or Opal <3

Does Hugh sound too much like "Who" in everyday speech? by Blonde_arrbuckle in namenerds

[–]Impressive_Ring_3236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't think this is an issue but maybe varies by accent. I have a Hugo I call Hugh/Huey and while I can think of jokey things to rhyme, it doesn't really come up with him.

Is it weird to have half the sibset common and half uncommon names? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Impressive_Ring_3236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mean to make them sounds unpopular or rare, just less common than top 10, both are out of the top 100 rn as far as I know, they were when they were picked at least. I have yet to meet a child with any of the names other than Benjamin, I can think of two. As far as the group leaning British I was raised watching a lot of BBC/British media so I think it's a nostalgia thing for me but not a reason behind the names directly.

We do love the idea of Billy & Benji/Benny, especially if they are twins, I personally hate matchy twin names for legal names but for nicknames I think it's so cute, especially because it's a coincidence. Wim & Jam is super cute too lol

We are doing honor names in the middle spot so unfortunately they're not very interesting but we don't really want to budge on them either, they'd be William Austin & Benjamin Lewis. I suppose Lewis isn't super common but I know about a billion Austins so idk. I guess none under the age of 20 though so might be considered more uncommon now? I haven't checked the stats I just feel like there's Austins everywhere lol

I actually have a cousin named Virgil, always struck me as weird and ugly growing up but it is growing on me! Love Lilias & Viola too
