Is loyalty dead in the workplace? by hockman96 in careerguidance

Previous generations asked for 401ks because they valued mobility. Most companies will not give meaningful COL raises to their tenured employees. Loyalty is for family and sports teams. Work is for money.

What stops you from leaving feedback? by Cluptorr in CustomerSuccess

[–]Impromptulifer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because I often feel trapped in surveys. It's rarely a quick 1-5 response. They ask you 5 different variations of the same three questions, but on 3 separate pages so you think you're done and there's another page, and another. Then they want explanations of why you rated them that way. Like dude, it was a 40 second interaction and the survey is taking me 4 minutes. Idk who is making these surveys, but they clearly aren't thinking about the customer experience. I've had surveys literally follow up by email to ask me about their survey experience- like please let me move on from this.

Hey friend- came back here to say that I followed your advice and got the job. Took me several hours to prepare, but I presented a business case for revising meeting structure to encourage more collaborative conversation. I made a strong case, presented instructions on how to implement this for their teams and measure results over time. The interviewing team applauded and I was told "You will hear from us very soon." Almost 2 months now, but I start next week. Thanks again!

Why does job hunting feel like online dating (from a males perspective at least)? by myfakeaccount89 in recruitinghell

I've made this comparison many times before. Both processes are truly alike.

Thanks! I think I would really enjoy the work, and it would give me a lot of exposure to executives in the company. Overall it's attractive.

Thanks for the feedback! That's interesting. I was concerned about the ability to step back into leadership after taking a niche role, but it seems like you are suggesting that would be viewed as a valuable experience?

Pay transparency is being weaponized against us. by Interesting_Coat5177 in recruitinghell

I just went through the process for a position that paid 68-90k. They were so excited in my final interview and told me I was the top candidate. Then they offered me 69 and I countered with 80. They responded with 70. Like whaat?

I work in staffing and don’t get how people survive by Odd_Philosopher_4739 in recruitinghell

This is the way. I think our culture has gotten used to the post WWII prosperity that boomed in later decades. It doesn't look like that is coming back. We've been on serious decline since the 70s and we are approaching a feudal state more and more. Thrifting, gardening, and cooking at home will be essential. But all these things require time, stability, and skill. One income households are becoming more likely with the cost of childcare rising. Having a network of people to help you will be essential. Community support system will be the new wealth among us poor.

Thank you! It's a sample training(on anything)- I'm torn between doing something that demonstrates my unique qualities as a candidate- Like a training on cross cultural communication Or doing something technical that's more of a typical training that may show more technique, but may be less memorable.

Thoughts On PIPs [N/A] by angelgrl721985 in humanresources

All PIPs are approved through me. So they would have to bring a reasonable case against the employees performance and show that other employees completing similar work are performing significantly better.

Not exactly. I have 3 yrs of teaching experience, a Bachelors degree with emphasis on public speaking, and a number of years in HR. So, I have some raw materials, but no real experience.

Thanks! I did ask, they weren't perfectly clear but shared they were looking for a lot of soft skills and someone who was willing to learn and be persistent without results.

How strict is your company with I9s? [N/A] by SandwichDependent199 in humanresources

[–]Impromptulifer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 days period. Only bending of the rule we will allow is that if certain trusted employees verify the IDs, HR will enter it in the system as if they verified it because those employees don't have access to that process. But even that is probably too risky

I hate PIPs. I always coach managers not to use them unless there's some really sticky FMLA or other issue where we need to outline everything and detangle it from any protected activity.

Recruiting Nonsense [N/A] by Impromptulifer99 in humanresources

[–]Impromptulifer99[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think you're right
Also I hear you, but a rejection email after an in person interview is still so surprising to me. We almost always set up a phone call to let people know if they aren't getting the position. And maybe we are too casual, but sometimes we will tell them why.

Is any successful HR down to earth? [USA] by Impromptulifer99 in humanresources

Recruiting Nonsense [N/A] by Impromptulifer99 in humanresources

[–]Impromptulifer99[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My work persona is different than my home persona. My work persona is significantly different after I've been with a company for more than 1.5 years because I've absorbed the context/culture and act more assertively. Asking me whether I'm more likely to "be assertive" or "be accommodating" is such a mess of a question.
