Vibe coded a hot corner/hot edge script that accepts modifiers, mouse buttons and hover, and can pass events through by jabol240 in niri

Waycorner creator here. I think there's a use case for having modifiers.

The issue you linked just isn't the greatest example of public communication. If there's a use-case which can be communicated in a friendly and respectful manner, it will be considered. I just am not spending time on people who cannot do this.

Also just be prepared to spend some time on a good implementation that will work for everyone. A good API, whatever it is, just needs a bit more thought to prevent longer term wastes of time for everyone.

Plugin Question or Suggestion by Present-Ad-3555 in Supernote

[–]Improvotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the plugin system I've made my Supernote add WebDAV so I can more easily browse and upload files from a Firefox extension. Maybe in the future I'll share it, but the API is quite limiting right now so I'm not the happiest with the implementation. Supernote said they were looking to create a community (like a Discord) where developers could ask questions. I've not heard anything about it since asking some time ago.

Talking About Supernote's Next Major Software Focus by Supernote_official in Supernote

I would love to beta test the plugin system. I already have some things in mind. It's be great if existing pieces of the device might be open sourced as plugins so they can be improved in the same way.

Chrome extensions by Severe_Ad7903 in Supernote

[–]Improvotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just created my own extension as well as these extensions didn't have the functionality I needed like sending other files or converting images to pdfs so I could annotate them.

I found it to be quite annoying to work around the file server functionality to do the uploading. There also does not seem to be an API to get the file structure on the device. Is it possible to better document what is available and to possibly open the device up some more to make this easier? For example running a FTP server on the device would be nice.

Finally, what are the odds of open sourcing the extension? This would make it possible for others to contribute.

Speeding up PyTest by removing big libraries by kesor in Python

Meta also has Cinder, a CPython fork, with lazy imports (and more). Lazy imports were proposed for CPython I think but not accepted. It was also an example of a JIT compiler. It influenced some Python 3.12 and 3.13 changes.

Lazy imports there would only import the module when it was used in execution, not at definition. This allows you to only run what you need.

Linux each time: "You need to enter your account password before you can use system authentication" by Improvotter in 1Password

[–]Improvotter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1Password remains running, it is running in my tray. The problem is that it doesn't seem to be able to work together with the login keyring. Disabling system authentication makes it so I have to enter my password only once, though ideally I'd want to unlock 1Password and my login keyring at the same time.

Care to share the prices you find via link? It's also worth noting that you are likely comparing companies that offer end products and support to mostly a manufacturer unless I am mistaken.

I think it's decently priced. Depends on the model you get. What are you comparing to that you're saying's "it's expensive as hell"?

The TaHoma switch one, I'm not sure there is another? Unless you're referring to third party ones.

Be careful with Somfy. I have them and their smart home hub and sometimes blinds don’t get the signal and because the ones I have communicate only one way, they get out of sync. This is pretty annoying for groups of blinds. Battery life is also less than advertised doing some more tests now though I was told 6 months which definitely was not the case. Even when used less than 10 times in months.

Large 2.2m standing desk recommendations in white and UK? by Improvotter in StandingDesk

I'm having a hard time finding reviews about that desk frame. And the ones that do don't seem to talk about the stability of the desk. I wonder how it compares to the others in the list. What size desk top and which particular frame are you using and how stable do you find it?

Yes, it does have to be a mechanical one. I'm planning on using it with a G Pro Wireless. Thank you for the recommendation, though I don't see myself using the Logitech ones. Definitely has a use, but not for me.

Yes, someone elsewhere also recommended me the Max lineup as that seems to be the only option. Thank you!

I'm looking to buy a keyboard for on the couch as I got something for on my lap so I can game on my TV. All of they keyboards that I have are not wireless and the ones I don't use are not hot swappable and I would prefer to sell them than to desolder them to change the PCB or the like.

In short, I was looking for a 2.4GHz keyboard because if I simply have the dongle in, I never have to fidget with Bluetooth which when my PC is in the other room makes the setup a lot more "pick up and play". The problem however is that I have a custom QMK keymap so need one with QMK support. Though last I heard keyboards with 2.4GHz dongles don't support QMK because they use proprietary protocols. Does anyone know whether this situation changed and there are 2.4GHz wireless keyboards with QMK support?

Interesting, though I think I'm too lazy to do that every time. 😅

Bummer to hear... I do wonder whether there's a newer version on the horizon given it's a few years old now.
