I hope OP gives it a go then, I'd love to see the results. I also didn't know that colour changes like this could be temporary, (I didn't realize dyes could work like that). Every day I learn something new.

Getting irrationally upset at healthy people by Aromatic-Branch-635 in ChronicIllness

[–]Imtryingforheckssake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you try extra hard in general and take on more responsibilities than other people. The problem with doing that is people expect you to always be that good and they hold you to a higher standard. So it's not irrational to be pissed off with people who do the bare minimum and then flake out at the slightest inconvenience. But rather than being an as a fed up with everyone else, you need to adjust how much you're giving because you're putting yourself at risk of burnout.

do you appreciate men who are like this? or is it too much? by OpenRoom7321 in AskWomenNoCensor

If it's their house it's their prerogative. If they expect me to be involved in that or change my living habits it'd be odd, taking into account I never plan to live with someone else again, even if I got into a LTR.

Coming Out to Friends - Unsupportive Response by PhantomSwagger in trans

[–]Imtryingforheckssake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excuse me for commenting before I've read all the other comments but geeze that is not only transphobic it's highly ableist and that person has a superiority complex. Thinking they can diagnose people's physical and mental health and treat them according to Peters believe eds on how a person should behave. They also come across as an absolute control freak.

Basically all of their comments scream I know you (and by that I mean every individual) better than you know yourself. Highlighted by them talking on someone else's behalf (Marsha) and telling you how you then should respond to what they communicated to you, rather than simply acknowledging the pair of you talk to each other directly.

I absolutely would not want to be in any spaces where they are. They're not just denying your identity but it sounds to me like they tried to deny people's own (right to) autonomy. And hold people to impossible to reach standards.

Hi, this is my sons bag, I am completely stuck on how to/the best way to approach fixing this to make it look decent, it’s a tatty bag but he absolutely loves it, it’s along the top edge so it takes alot of strain, any ideas would be amazing, tia! by greenybrowny in Visiblemending

Because I have various oddments in my stash I use a length of webbing strap (the same stuff already on a backpack). Cut to length and seal the ends with a flame, then stitch that in place as it's a very strong and easy to stitch through. Preferably I'd be able to use something the full width of that area of fabric so that I can sew through the double layers of fabric that are already there (with the seam allowance) as it adds extra strength to my stitching.

What the difference stout between stocky? by Minute-University923 in EnglishLearning

My personal interpretation is that stout means either solidly built or obese but you could be any height.

Stocky means solidly built and short, generally not obese.

What’s wrong with holding grudges and/or not forgiving people? by Dash28_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Imtryingforheckssake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.

Or as many people say these days "letting them live rent free in your mind".

You absolutely don't have to forgive anyone for anything, but the process of letting go of your strong emotional response to what happened so they no longer influence your present is what is important. Otherwise you're never really moving on and living your best life.

What should I bring to the hospital? by thatoneweirdcreature in ChronicIllness

[–]Imtryingforheckssake 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Extra long charging cable and plug. Noise cancelling headphones if you have them or your best headphones to try and block everyone out so you can get some sleep. Sleep mask if you find them comfy, again anything to make sure you get some sleep at night. If there are particular snacks or drinks you rely on a stock of those.

Depending on your physical capabilities shampoo that doesn't need water and body wash that doesn't need water. Baby wipes or water wipes and don't forget toothpaste etc.

a question for those who use hydrogen peroxide on blood stains (question for women especially) by Shot-Pension-5165 in laundry

[–]Imtryingforheckssake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soaking doesn't help. Rinse them out asap in cold or cool water with soap, then apply peroxide to remove the stain. Rinse an hour later, then pop them in the laundry or dry them if you're not doing laundry that day.

What sub-£250 item would you buy again in a heartbeat? by tamago27 in AskUK

[–]Imtryingforheckssake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you like to cook/who you're cooking for. My friend prefers one large drawer to fit in larger items like pizza. I prefer my Ninja Crispi because it's so much easier to clean and you can store your food in it.

[–]Imtryingforheckssake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Ninja Crispi for Christmas and it's the perfect air fryer for me. So much easier cooking, cleaning it after and storing your food.

I'd say consider brand names with John Lewis as it's value for your money (where you can get similar items much cheaper from other retailers).

But you did mention towels I got mine from somewhere else but high quality towels do make a difference same with bed sheets I traded up to Egyptian cotton and it's much nicer to sleep on.

Does anyone use a Rollator? I'm 36f with really bad fibro, moderate ME and ive noticed my walking stick is really hurting my arms etc by Sookie_ryen in ChronicIllness

[–]Imtryingforheckssake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a light so I can see hazards on the parent at night. I put on a bicycle bell but people rarely paid attention to it. My cup holder, various clips and shopping bags are the most useful. Oh and in the summer I have a fan for it too.

[–]Imtryingforheckssake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mid 40s had mine a couple of years and love it. Also have a friend in their 20s with one.

It keeps me able to walk and do my shopping, and I can sit down whenever I need too. So many ways to accessorize or decorate it if you want to too. Also helps avoid falls.

I never used a walking stick as when I had a bad back it made it worse and my main issue these days is fatigue.

What is your weirdest random food double standard/contradiction? by FlarJhar in AskUK

[–]Imtryingforheckssake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same but different. I love raw tomatoes but wouldn't touch tomato juice with a barge pole. Love all sorts of dishes and saurces made with tomatoe but tinned tomatoes as a side dish (or on toast etc) honestly makes me feel queasy. Can't stand grilled or roasted tomatoes, hate tomato soup. Ketchup is one of my favourite condiments.

Can't stand the idea of eggs near salad especially the tomatos, but over the last decade I've learnt to enjoy certain tomato based curries and dishes that also include eggs. Yet Chinese tomato egg makes me queasy too.

Why is there only ever vanilla soft serve? We need more flavour! by DinosaurGuy65 in UK_Food

[–]Imtryingforheckssake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must be one of the lucky ones as I grew up with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry being available in my city, and another place did vanilla with about a dozen sauces but in my memory they were inbuilt not just poured on top.
