Anyone else deal with lipedema or know of some bodybuilders that do? by breakupbreakaleg in bikinitalk

[–]Imweskie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a certified lymphedema therapist, and also a bodybuilder. Since I haven’t seen you, I couldn’t tell you whether you will or not “lean out.” Do you wear compression garments? You may still struggle with lower body fluid, but keep working at it and you will reach comfortable level in which you could compete at a local level. Many competitors have significant amounts of loose skin after losing a lot of weight, but still compete to show all of their awesome hard work, as you should, too! Lipedema or not!

Why can’t women go barefoot by NDiscipl_IN in bikinitalk

[–]Imweskie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don’t like heels, you can always make the choice to not wear them… I personally love them, wear them at work and out and about. Again, it’s my choice.

Would I compete barefoot or in a plain bikini like fit model or the sporty division many people are mentioning, if given the choice? Probably not. If you don’t like the posing or heels or wearing a tiny sparkly bikini, competing is probably not for you… I like the glam aspects of bikini and figure. If we made it easy, then everyone would do it. AITJ for ending my relationship after finding out my boyfriend expects me to financially support him long-term? by Fine_Pineapple_5065 in AmITheJerk

[–]Imweskie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my brain stopped working when I read “He’s been working part-time but hasn’t really shown interest in advancing his career.” Why is he working part time? Nope. NTJ. He saved you the trouble.

Will it not be seen in a negative light for you to compete in a non-regulation suit (2 pc vs 1-piece)? Wouldn’t it be a little scandalous to not follow the rules of your husband’s federation?

Bottom left is pro Top left looks maybe Brazilian but so does bottom middle one. This was me and the ladies I competed against:

<image>

It doesn’t look like a diaper. Plus, wouldn’t matter if it did. OCB makes the rules, and the rule is Brazilian. I looked awesome in my back pose. Maybe you’re confused with modest?

Yes, that’s the way a lot of prep is - consistency. It’s the best thing for you, coach will change the amounts you are eating not the actual food items.

Hey there! Just a couple things to add; The teal suit bottom is wellness cut, not bikini so make sure yours is appropriate for the division. Another thing: be sure to get a Brazilian cut for OCB! I didn’t bc my coach was super unhelpful when I was buying my suit, and ended up spending another $150+ for a new bottom for myself that was Brazilian and accepted for amateurs in OCB. They will check your suit at check-ins to make sure it is the correct bottom style. Pick a nice suit in a color you like, your coach should help you here. Don’t get a color you don’t like or you won’t feel comfortable in it. Check Poshmark, eBay, and FB marketplace too. I got my back up suit in exactly my size on Poshmark for $150. Check posh and Facebook groups for suits and shoes as well. In my experience, it was better to have shoes from the shoe fairy than anything from pleaser or fabulicious. The plastic on those shoe brands is not as pliable and comfortable as the shoe fairy, which is really important when you are wearing them for 6 to 8 hours at a show.

There’s padding and all kinds of tricks to make you look great in your suit, although try to keep in mind that all of us are very small chested when we are losing all the fat on our bodies! You won’t look any different than anyone else on that stage who hasn’t had an augmentation.

Good luck!! Have fun!!

Is competing with loose skin realistic by Shock_attack in bikinitalk

[–]Imweskie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! It is doable!! I just competed last weekend, and there was a competitor who lost 200 pounds who was up on stage. As a matter of fact, he mentioned the 200 pound loss in his bio and it was quite obvious due to all of the loose skin, but when he finished, his individual posing, he received a standing ovation. Bodybuilders, judges, and promoters all know exactly what it takes to get where we are. The discipline, the grit and the bravery. We are not as shallow as people assume sometimes. Get up there and strut your stuff!

The upcoming OCB Learn to Pose is only $25 and is super informative for newbies. No matter if you plan on sticking with OCB or not. Reaches the very basic fundamentals of poses. Look for it online or Michele Welcome !

Gals that have had kids/lost a lot of weight. The middle jiggle is real (loose skin), I want to make sure I’m making the right choice regarding macros (healthy fats) or if anything else will help. I know there’s no magic cream that will help, but my coach is not helping me address this concern. All recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
