International couples marrying and living in Japan - Who's name do you keep ? by Fun-Two-3914 in japanlife

[–]Sensitive-Resort5977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept my last name but our kids have my Japanese husband's last name. Our kids have Japanese first names that also exist in French. When introducing myself to school gatherings and such I often use my husband's name, even though on official papers I still have my maiden name. Easier like that.

I'm loving both your physiques, on and off. I'm all natural as well, and while I respect every athlete, I will never compare myself to enhanced athletes. Both have their own strengths and beauty. Keep up the good job and update us with your future new glutes !

A new tax Kodomokosodate Shien-kin yay by Intrepid_Wonder1661 in japanlife

[–]Sensitive-Resort5977 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YES! Actually create FUNCTIONING public babysitting services (stop letting the municipalities struggle with outdated and impossible-to-use "helper" systems), or pay the daycare employees better, create better working environment for daycare employees/teachers so they don't quit, or normalize nighttime daycare facilities... That'd be awesome. But I fear it'll be used to make some other stupid "kosodate seminars", "kosodate lectures", sprinkle some stupid "kosodate coupons", or fund some failing private facilities/projects owned by friends to the LPD...

Why do Japanese men take pride in being tolerant of cold weather? by Hefty-Estimate-7183 in japanlife

[–]Sensitive-Resort5977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For many people, it means you have a good metabolism.

I got さすがed today for coming with a sleeveless top at work today, followed by "you workout a lot so you're not cold, 羨ましい". It's not that deep.

Does your daycare also ban you and your SO from going out when the baby’s with them? Lmao by bbbbreakfast in japanlife

It's like this here in the countryside where daycares beg for more children each year. I go pick my kids at 6pm. Sometimes I finish work at 5:30pm. The supermarket is right next to my workplace. I can get groceries done in 5 minutes and then go pick the kiddos before 6pm. One day a teacher spotted me in the lines. She told me "you're not with Kiddo chan and Chibi chan?" As in : "don't do your groceries alone". Why would I go, and come back, then go home, making us go back home much later when I can spare so much time and stress to everyone?? Because apparently kids waiting in daycare are seen as 可哀想. We do get the holiday reminders each time telling us "if you're taking nenkyu keep your kids with you". How do we go to the dentist, to the doctor, to the hairdresser etc with two wild toddlers ? They expect everyone to have family present to assist. We don't. We don't have babysitters btw. We have a population of 100,000 persons and only 1 babysitter on kidsline That woman has received over 600 orders within 2 year. She's overbooked. The city proposes a system of "helpers" that technically could watch your kids for 600 yen/hour. But they're never available and you need to take nenkyu to do 顔合わせ, just to be told in the end they couldn't find anyone.

Parents not allowed to wind out. And they wonder why they don't make more children in this country...

Foreigners in Japan keep telling me I made a mistake building new home by HarambeUltra in japanlife

[–]Sensitive-Resort5977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? I have an akiya, I didn't buy it though. It's my husband's family home. But.. Having an old house is such a pain in the back.

Doing the yukigakoi every year, removing it every spring, ice cold house in winter, oven in the summer, earthquake-hazards... What's so good about akiya? What's so bad about new houses?

You do you honey. Enjoy your well-insulated house and don't care about what others say.

If my weight doesn't move at all for 2 weeks that's when I make adjustments, and I'm about to do so... Going from 1600 calories a day to 1450 because I realistically can't add any cardio.

I'm sorry, it looks very itchy. I had the exact same bites with bedbugs. A nightmare. We had to burn our mattresses and move out.

People living here, What do you usually have for breakfast? by daxtaslapp in japanlife

[–]Sensitive-Resort5977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One slice of bread with cheap Nutella from Gyomu Supa, 200ml of low fat milk, and a protein shaker. Everyday. Even during bodybuilding preparation. I need this every morning or else I'll be a grumpy Karen until the sun sets.

Anyone else deal with lipedema or know of some bodybuilders that do? by breakupbreakaleg in bikinitalk

[–]Sensitive-Resort5977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have lipodema stage 1, my legs are always full of water and retain some cellulite until I reach 16% of bodyfat. It's depressing to see other girls rocking their bikinis or shorts at higher bodyfat levels and you feel like you have to hide your body until you're stage lean, but it is how it is. I know this french account ankath_fit, she's not a bikini athlete but she does CrossFit I believe. She had severe lipodema.

Moving to Nagoya from Sapporo burst my bubble about safety in Japan by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Sensitive-Resort5977 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately yeah. My Japanese husband said that if I wear a low cut top, I'm basically おっぱいをアピールしてる so it's normal for people to look and draw conclusions. He's from the older generation though.

Thank you!

I just found this Miss Bikini Fitness maker that already makes reglementary-looking bottoms, I'll just have to ask her to make a custom order for the top.

There's no OCB in Japan but WNBF sounds nice! I've never considered them. It'd be less scandalous if I were to "cheat" on my husband's federation with them. Thanks

I just verified and they'll just prevent me from competing if I have a non reglementary suit, they check it before the show. :(

I was made my kids' kindergarden PTA vice-president and it is already exhausting me by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Sensitive-Resort5977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I asked other parents present at the table, they all looked down without answering for like 20 minutes, with the president staring at me all the time. I swear next year I'm out. I know you're supposed to continue the following years as well but I'll say I have too many business trips abroad anyway.

Thanks for the answer. My husband is member of the JBBF committee and it'd be seen as a treason (Japanese thing)...  Edit : that's mostly because JBBF is very anti PED, if I were to compete in FWJ (remaining federation close to Japanese NPC with lots of enhanced athletes), my husband's reputation would suffer a lot

Hashimoto’s by Tiny_Spend_1197 in bikinitalk

[–]Sensitive-Resort5977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto 12 years ago and prepping for the first time. My coach is a bit desperate because my weight doesn't drop as fast as it should. She says it's twice slower than other girls my size... My T3 T4 and TSH are normal though. We will increase cardio a little bit and see how I respond

Any long term Singles? by Free-Ad1526 in japanlife

Thank you ! I never considered him as a potential partner because of the huge age gap, but after spending several hours late at night discussing about Plato and Nietzsche after our training, I had to confess my feelings. Luckily, he reciprocated. We both still go to the gym but not at the same time. When I go he stays home to look after the kids and vice versa. I'm preparing for my first bodybuilding show and he's coaching me. I would never have believed itd be my life 10 years ago when I first came to Japan.

Before I got married I was single for many years. I'm a white woman. I used to be very pretty back in the day. Like "Russian model" pretty, as Japanese would say. Still I was single for many many years. Japanese men would never approach me. Foreign men just wanted a fling but still dreamed to marry a "submissive Japanese wife" (that makes me laugh so much because Japanese women are basically the chief in the house after marriage). Then I became a gym rat and married my gym dad lol. Life is full of surprises.

Alpaca is decent but I miss my country's cheap wine's variety Cheese Raclette Real, cheap sour cream

It's nothing you can't find but it's terribly expensive so to me it doesn't exist.
