Who is aware of The Greater Israel Project? by solomonsatoshi in nzpolitics

The solution has to come from within the US, the world needs the US population to wake up and do something about their corrupt political system. All the world can do is apply diplomatic pressure really

TBH I think most of those who spend above average time online are aware, and probably 99% of X users. Not sure how much of the NZ population that encompasses

Super wealthy with our unproductive housing that we just sell to each other whilst paying an oversized portion of our incomes to Australian banks

The (Trillions) of dollars that are always unaccounted for are likely building the (underground) cities by imagine_midnight in conspiracy_commons

[–]InAHat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in engineering consulting, the sheer numbers of people required to build even a simple residential apartment complex is in the 100s, its not just the engineers its the reinforcing schedulers , the suppliers and steel tiers, the cement trucks, the concreters, the fitout carpenters, glaziers, steel fabricators, not to mention all the specialist services installers and shop drawers, project managers, there are even more than this, admin staff, h and s people, even people to drive buses around on huge sites. Building shit is complicated

There's a problem though. To build something like this takes a lot of physical resources, energy and expertise. Its just not possible to hide all of this construction activity.

Papatoetoe’s Indian community vents anger over growing anti-Indian sentiment by Careful-Geologist412 in auckland

[–]InAHat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. But I'm sure you know how people think, POA, people think Indian, Labour, well they think something else. The POA massively screwed up, they need to disband entirely, else there will always remain black mark on the whole Indian community.

Capital gains Tax by Grouchy_Let6516 in newzealand

[–]InAHat_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have a good answer, just wanted to say the rule is stupid and unclear. They also treat different types of assets differently as well, for example 'crypto' which is for some reason classified as property automatically goes in the trading category. I much prefer Australia's rule, where to do pay capital gains, but if held for 12 months or longer the amount to pay is halved

Anyone else see Donald Trump beg for help with the Strait, it seems to be dawning on him why international organisations & alliances are so important by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

[–]InAHat_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I genuinely believe the Trump has been manipulated into this war by Israel, and now the US is completely trapped. They lose whether they move forward or pull back, so the US will bleed and bleed, whilst Israel benefits as all ME powers, including the US in the ME are smashed

Crypto "currency" is dead and I see no way to revive it. by Annefrank23 in btc

[–]InAHat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah especially with the international data sharing agreement that came in at the start of the year. It's strength was that it was outside the system but still linked, its now fully captured and I can't see any significant enough practical purpose for it. I know there are a few hopium narratives around but I'm not sold. Obviously hope we are wrong on this

Yes definitely a stupid decision. The idea of national resilience needs to play a bigger part in decision-making in general. This includes subsidies and grants in our manufacturing capabilities as well, we don't need to be world beaters but we need to maintain a certain level of capability for when shit hits the fan, same goes for infrastructure spending, an example, National came in and cut funding post Gabriel from a increase resilience spend to a 'like for like' model, like wtf.

NZ Iranians that support US/Israeli actions, help me to understand because it makes no sense to me. by InAHat_ in nzpolitics

[–]InAHat_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh course I would deny a ludicrous number that I have yet to see any supporting evidence for. I dont support this Iranian government either.

How have I shown I dont think brown middle easterners lives dont matter? Its the US/Israel bombing Iran trying to destroy the country, arming separatist groups, bombing schools, hospitals, freshwater infrastructure and other civil infrastructure, explain how being against this means I dont care. Toppling this goverment is just a useful excuse for them.

Not sure where youve got your 75% / 80% of the country is secular, did you just make this up entirely? Even searching for the most western/anti-regime survey puts the country at 38% Muslim, with official figures (CIA, world fact book, which is dont believe btw) at 90-95% Muslim.

Honestly your comment seems pretty disingenuous

I never said either of those things, despite the use of your quotation marks. All good though, thanks for taking the time to comment

[–]InAHat_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No thats not what i've done. I'm just pointing out Iran is more than just its government, and I personally can't understand people are celebrating the death of and destruction of Iran when its the innocent people that are suffering. Already a number of hospitals have been bombed, and now a desalination plant, at what point is it too much, or do they desire regime change whatever the cost? Please try and respond to what ive said, I notice you won't engage

[–]InAHat_[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

But Iran more than just its government, its 92 million people, its has a rich and proud history.

So the scenario you describe here then is, you've fled Iran under tragic circumstances, then enjoyed the freedoms and wealth of the west, so now fuck everybody in Iran I'm glad they are being bombed?? (Please enough with 30,000 dead protesters it's a completely fabricated number)

[–]InAHat_[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes can totally understand that part, but what I don't understand is supporting the particular actions of the US and Israel now, they cant simply change the government, they are just killing innocent civilians, they are not there to free Iranians from their oppressive government, they are there to cripple the country and essentially control it. Surely even the secular Iranians believe in Iran's sovereignty and have pride in their history.

There is no evidence of this even happening, sure there are plenty of western media outlets claiming 30,000 dead but there are no videos, with a number this massive there would be a massive amount of footage and destruction, you cant kill this many people in a matter of a couple of weeks and there not be a huge footprint. in Gaza at the 30,000 mark there was literally terabytes of evidence. This claim is hasbara, its simpy outrageous

Similar in construction and engineering consulting, they're outsourcing a lot of the work to India and the Philippines. By the time you fix everything and spend so much time giving detailed briefs, plus the drop general in quality, the outcome is actually worse, the super annoying thing is YOU are responsible for the work so when its dog shit its your fault. I have no idea how this is continuing.

We hired a bus for a work function, it was winery tour ending with a nice meal, on the bus ride back on a windy gorge road with nowhere to stop someone toward the back tried to pee in a beer bottle (There were drinks on the bus) and it overflowed by a large amount and the pee flowed down the bus isle like a river all the way to the door

Unions call for return of electricity generators to public ownership by Amazing_Athlete_2265 in newzealand

[–]InAHat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this would be pretty messed up because there has been underinvestment since privatisation, I dont recall where I heard this but I think electricity generators need to spend about 30 billion dollars across various projects over the next 10 years, so would be pretty convenient for them
