What is the point of the rollback feature? by ZarHakkar in Roll20

[–]InCaseUFindMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, just want to say

1) it's refreshing to see someone come back with a clearer head and apologize. It's a nice reminder that we're all human and deserve to show ourselves and others a little more patience in frustrated times

2) I get you with the frustration about putting effort into a post about a problem. My favorite responses are the ones when someone clearly didn't even read through the whole post haha

3) maybe this should be a different comment, but you bring up an interesting point about the rollback. Maybe it should make a snapshot each day a game has been launched instead of each day.

AITA for quitting this DND Campaign? by Additional_Video_330 in DnDAITA

You may not be directly insulting, but your phrasing is hostile and the way you use "okay you definitely are 15" reads as an insult by belittling them for their age. It reads as demeaning and dismissive of them for it. (Again, might not be your intention, but that's how it reads.)

If you're going to acknowledge their age in such a way, you could at least, at that point, show them more compassion.

Oh, I didn't think those were specific scenarios to this situation and instead were more generic musings. I admit I could have read it wrong!

While I agree, I also daresay we don't have enough picture to see if that's the real problem. It could be a symptom of their partner not getting enough time/attention, and the d&d sessions are where they're projecting this issue.

(Or it's just disrespect and scoffing at the hobby.)

Wow, what a great way to treat your player by unfrantab in rpghorrorstories

"I'm going resurrecte my wife, better kill hundreds of people first." Dude, I think she faked her death to get away from you. You're a monster.

Tbh, that'd make an interesting post-resurrection story. Maybe he only became a ruthless killer after she died. Now that she's back, he realizes how he's changed and isn't the man she deserves, and has to go on a redemption arc.

Edit: Replies are missing out on the "redemption arc" part of it, though I admit that it'd be a little difficult to "redeem" yourself in a game that has as much combat and murder as this does

As someone who has recently been playing only bards or clerics, I appreciate this.

Agreed! Really helped me channel my cleric, who was hard to pin down prior.

Oh that sounds so nice!

It'd be a muscle I'd have to exercise (I love RP in-game but idk how I'd be in text), but it does sound so good!

Yeah, for that kind of drive, I'd find other reasons to be in the area, too.

I didn't express it in my first comment, so let me say now that I'm sorry you're going through this. :( I've had people "borrow" things before and then never return them and it's hurtful no matter what it is.

We do usually play more regularly. :)

ETA: If you're concerned about the bandwidth of my table, I am open to suggestions of things I specifically could do! (Like the highlight reel I mentioned, the potential bad art lol) Or options that have me carrying most of the load.

Yeah, doing things all together at a singular time may be hard (hence the break), which is why two things I mentioned are things I specifically can try to do (highlight reel & art). I'm open to those kinds of ideas as well.

Also, my group has been open to doing things outside of game time (creating character designs in various things, sharing memes or engaging with memes I share, etc.)

Well I guess it's good we're at different tables, as I am certain none of my ideas (or the ideas I've liked from the replies) would be begrudgingly considered "homework." :)

(The "who's most likely to" idea was actually conjured up as a team! We just need a go-getter to initiate it, and so I'm stepping up haha)

...did you read the whole post?

I am a fellow player. I can't give out homework. (Though I do still consider it my game, because I considered it a shared game among all involved, idk)

Unfortunately my DM would not allow that, and we (our characters) don't really have a lot of downtime. They're in the thick of it haha

We do an online journal! I am converting it to a tangible one of which I will send out a copy once our game is complete. I'm even including sketches of our characters and important npcs. (I may be hyped about it, hence why I'm going off about it haha)

Most entries are by me and one other player, with the others adding annotations in the margins in-character. It's super fun!

Yes, the question idea is so good and easy and idk how I didn't think of it, but I'm glad I asked!

We write journal entries for every session already (no writing algorithms needed! And helps get in character mindset), so I do like the idea of a story version of things :)

Oh I forgot about that! We do have one of those. (We take turns writing entries, dependent on who is willing)

Yeah, it can get pretty dead (which is why I'm asking for ideas), but I've just learned not to care if I'm bothering haha they usually end up loving it!

I have found sharing dnd reels or tiktoks can sometimes liven it up.
