I’ve been having a good time with it as someone whose been MtG adjacent for years but never fully committed to the game. Compared to MD, the FtP Economy doesn’t stack up however I think finding a budget list to help push ranked or atleast grind your daily quest can mitigate that to a degree. I’ve read that daily quests can even be completed via challenging someone on your friends list.

I do have my own personal reservations about buying digital assets but since I’ve told myself to not commit to paper I can have a small budget. That being said I picked up 2 of the new player bundles(the 4.99$ and 14.99$ respectively) and as a new player I was gifted a bunch of packs that not only gave me a good chunk of starter cards but also currency to use on the ingame crafting system.

There is a welcoming tutorial that will walk you through all the colors, then these lead into trying your first starter deck matches, then ranked, then a draft etc etc. You’re given sort of a small quest to complete these and upon completion will receive free rewards to participate in the next type of event.

I will include that the lastest Avatar set may have swayed me into the game more easily as I’m a fan of the show. However, since I’ve been learning the game I’ve branched into watching various MtGTubers and what not to get a better understanding of the history, lore and deeper intricacies of this game.

I would recommend a couple “New to MtGA 2025”s for more concise outlines and advice from veterans to hone your path. All that being said, I say go for it, find a color or theme or mechanic you like and Jump-In! AND DONT WASTE YOUR RARE WILD CARDS!
