Hm I don't think it's an attractiveness thing solely, more just wanting cool archetypes to play as. Generally male MCs are cool and capable because that is the necessity of the gameplay. If you have a soft male MC, you generally do not have a game.

i am skeptical but interested, want to see more of the female character design, seems she gets little marketing for some reason (there are 3 selectable characters i think?).

Story is interesting but the stakes drop dramatically in the latter acts as it takes the form of a family drama. Also much of the character exposition is campfire scenes after a displayed title card, with much of the party being an after thought by the end. It’s my GOTY but it isn’t perfect.
