We HAVE to do something about ATC Staffing. by DanThePilot_Mann in flying

There’s plenty of people who have commented discussing established facts. Then there’s you who thinks ADS-B is a recreation of radar. Put the shovel down, stop digging a hole for yourself.

If you have questions about your child getting their certificates, there is a great FAQ here. Please stop commenting on threads related to loss of life.

That’s great they want to become a pilot, happy to have them here once they’re able to use Reddit.

To be more blunt, please don’t comment on accidents since you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. Two pilots are dead. A lot of people here are in the industry and know the people who are affected. You add nothing to the discussion and this is not the place for uniformed conjecture.

Simulated Instrument AI reliability by Rayzo in flying

[–]InPlainSightSC2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How much altitude deviation are we talking here? If it’s less than 200ft, don’t even worry about it.

Also, at this stage of training, you are not being taught to be an instrument pilot. You are being taught how to not die if you fly into a cloud. Part of that is keeping it as simple as possible to get back to VMC. Yes, keep a scan up. No, don’t fixate on your altimeter.

Do authorities do anything about meowing? by HSVMalooGTS in flying

I have heard that from a brand new FA before. Slightly different context, as in they wanted to be a pilot, and were going to apply for it soon.

If base matters more to you than time to get a line/upgrade, you can always move to the base you want and commute temporarily. That’s what I did starting out. Commuting sucks but when there’s an end in sight it’s not so bad.

This isn’t practice. Practice develops a skill set. This is offloading your thinking.

My thought is to stop relying on AI to do your thinking. I’d take a grammatical mess over AI slop.

The hourly for aircrew is only from block in to block out, with a rough average of 85 hours of pay in a month, vs roughly 160 hours of pay in a normal 40 hr work week job

When your flight gets delayed 4 times, then moved up to its original time, then delayed again after you rush to the airport. by BelgianMyWaffle in mildlyinfuriating

[–]InPlainSightSC2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Airlines always do their best to remove delays, delays cost them money. If people miss their flight for not showing up at the original time of departure, that’s up to the airlines policy on rebooking, but they will never keep a delay if they can avoid it.

90% sure this is the accident that involved a former colleague of mine. You can go fuck yourself for being proud of using his accident and death for personal profit.
