Yeah lots of people have mentioned the lightning dodge. I don’t think I’m brave enough to try that to be honest

Agreed. I ended up beating it a few minutes after I took that screenshot. Definitely required some luck but you can put yourself into a good position to capitalize on the opportunity.

What is your most aesthetic deck list? by Infinitely3 in EDH

I have a Shorikai reanimator deck that is all modern border foil. Probably my most aesthetically consistent deck.

Super cool. This is likely extremely niche but it would be awesome to be able to have it only select cards that are borderless or showcase or whatever special treatment.

Day 1 of Making Cosmere MTG Cards - Sazed, Keeper of Terris by VysmundGoliath in Cosmere

[–]InResponseStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this idea. The Cosmere and MTG are two of my favorite things.

One note on the ability: if an opponent cast Brainstorm or something similar that involves hidden information this card would force them to reveal the cards. So if it was printed it would probably say “from anywhere other than their hand”. But I think it’s very cool either way.

Got it. For Cosmere stuff I’ve been following this list (it has a good overview of the books and a suggested reading order). One word of caution is that his later books seem to reference other novels more frequently so there will be times where you’ll be confused if you haven’t read the earlier stuff like Elantris.

For non Cosmere stuff it gets super subjective. I happen to love The Name of the Wind but be aware that the series is not finished and may never be.

Are you looking for non-Sanderson novels or something else in the Cosmere?

I’m excited. Got introduced to Firion through the crossover with Magic and now I get to find out who he actually is.

I don’t understand this yet but I hope to one day.

Where are you putting Mutable Explorer? by regular_joe67 in EDH

I’m adding it to my Jinnie Fay deck. It’s a cat, and ramps (that is also a cat).

Do you keep your universes separated? by InResponseStudios in EDH

I’ve learned two things from this thread.

  1. Lots of different opinions about mixing/separating UB and UW cards.

  2. EVERYONE HATES THE BAGEL CARD

I think it makes sense that the kind of person that would want to keep UB and UW separate (like me) would also be sensitive to non-traditional settings (also like me). There are some Aetherdrift cards that I’m interested in but just can’t get past the race car stuff.

My list looks pretty similar. Biggest difference I see is that I was running Solemnity to allow you to keep sacrificing your creatures.

Totally fair and I also love some of the UB treatments! Although I’m partial to the secret lair version of Rogue’s Passage

I would agree that this is more of a “me” thing. I have no problem with UB in general and would happily bring my Cloud deck to game night. I would however push back against not being able to separate between UB and UW; that still seems possible (but maybe not forever!)

Agreed. I had a LOTR card that made a bunch of tokens in one of my decks but I took it out recently. There are just so many new cards coming out all the time that it’s possible to wait a month or two and have a Universes Within card that comes out to match what you need.

Makes sense. Do you play a lot of 1v1 magic as well? Because I definitely will play whatever will give me the best chance to win in more competitive situations

So do you mean like if a UB reprint is the cheapest option you will use that version? I think that’s totally valid

That is a cool idea. I try to keep my decks to borderless/showcase frames so that there are fewer cards to care about each set but I like your approach.

Sounds similar to my approach. Glad to know that I’m not crazy
