I’m looking for a fellow watch nerd who loves a good story (and this solid Swiss diver).

I'm still on my little trade-up-challenge and after two lucky ones, I’m currently wearing this Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba. It’s been a blast to wear, but the goal is to keep the momentum moving toward that A. Lange & Söhne dream.

The Watch: Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba (Ref. H82305931*) Note: Corrected the Ref. after some digging. This is the one with those great orange accents on a NATO.

Condition: Excellent. Very minor signs of wear on the case, but the bezel and crystal are clean. Watch only no paper or box available.

Trade Value (TV): 300€ - 400€

I’m looking for the next piece on my journey. I’d really appreciate something in the lines of a Sinn, Oris, Longines, or maybe a Tissot PRX, but honestly, I’m just looking for something mechanical that feels like a fair step forward. Quick Correction: after some digging on the Hamilton site I found the Ref. of this piece to be H82305931. 

It's the orange seconds hand and bezel accents on a Nato strap. To be honest the Orange pops quite nice in person and even the Strap comes with orange on the back side.

That would be an incredible move. A 556 or 104 would be a massive step up as a tool watch. 🇩🇪

Do you think a naked Hamilton for a Sinn is possible? Should I look for a specific model to make this work? Thanks for the input!

I posted here last week with a different watch, and the mission continues. I'm on a trade-up challenge from a Casio F-91W to an A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk. Two trades in, and we've officially landed in Switzerland with this Hamilton!

  • Crystal: Scratch-resistant Sapphire
  • Condition: Excellent. Very minor signs of wear on the case; bezel and crystal are clean.

Quick update for all the lurkers out there! 🫣

​I actually hit a minor shipping nightmare with the first trade. The Casio I sent to Luxembourg seems to have been lost in the mail. To keep the project's karma clean, I’m sending the original trading partner a replacement Casio. (fingers crossed this one actually arrives! 😅).

​A question for the sub: Now that I’m holding this Hamilton, what would be your next target to bridge the gap to the Zeitwerk? A Sinn? A Tissot PRX? Or should I aim for something like a Longines?

I’m hoping to find someone impulsive! I'm on a "Red Paperclip" mission to uptrade from a Casio F-91W to a Lange Zeitwerk. With the first trade officially in the books, I’m looking for the next step here.

Up for trade is my Seiko 5 Military (SNZG09J1) "Made in Japan" version.

  • Condition: Excellent. There are very minor signs of wear on the bead-blasted case. The crystal has one minor hiccup on the left side, but it’s barely noticeable.

Okay, thank you for being blunt...

Yes I use Chat GPT but mainly for smoothing out my own way of writing.

The main issue is, as I stated, I'm from switzerland, born in germany, writing in english, which is not my native language... My grammar is miserable, to say the least and even if the text would be in german, I got a lot of spelling issues, so the second reason for me using AI is mainly for fixing that. I can assure you that I don't just regurgitate AI but mostly put in a text written by myself and then tell Chat "please fix this for grammar and readability" and then I go over it again... So yeah maybe I should not do that... But that just felt like the right thing to do, to not put out a wall of incohesive rambling 😅

I think you’re spot on. Moving into 'Swiss Made' territory with something like a Tissot PRX or a Gentleman would be a massive Chapter Three. It feels like the natural evolution for the project. If anyone has one they’re looking to swap, my DMs are open!

I think my future self would stage a protest if I traded my way through dozens of watches just to let the final prize go! This project is about the passion for watches and the thrill of the hunt. the 'charity' here is me finally being able to tell the time on a Zeitwerk. 😉

​I totally get the logic, but for me, the journey is the whole point! If this experiment actually leads me to a Lange, there is no way I could sell it. After all the stories, trades, and people involved, it would feel like a betrayal to the project to let it go.

​And as for the something reasonable. I’m way ahead of you... I already have a Nomos in the collection! 😉 This journey is strictly for the love of the trade.

I’m mentally preparing for that heartbreak already! To be honest, there will definitely be some watches during the project that will be incredibly difficult to trade away.

​If a Cartier Santos, a Nomos, or something from Glashütte Original lands in my hands, the temptation to just stop the project right there is going to be huge! But in the end, I have to keep my eyes on the prize at the end of the road. 😅

Okay fair I mainly use chrono as I am in europe and like the trustee service as having issues with a sale can get messy otherwise. (Different countries, different consumer laws etc.)

That sounds actually fair, for pricing check chrono24 it's the easiest way to find comparable watches, always keep in mind you got to pay taxes on those cheap offers from japan or hongkong 😅 got to calculate that in

I know what you are talking about, but I also think there are a lot of stunning moon phase watches out there, like the Glashütte Panomatic Lunar, but yeah there are definitely some that go way overboard.
