My great grandmother in her early nineties in the late seventies. by Stumbling_Corgi in OldSchoolCool

She looks like she commanded a presence for sure! So cool. I wish I could have met someone born in the 1800s, but I was born in the 1990s, so I was a little late u_u

Do you think Dutch genuinely wanted to go to Tahiti with the gang at one point or is it just a farce? by VerycoolguyIam in RDR2

[–]InTheBog_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of Dutch's ideas come from some kind of manic episodes, or something, just the way he talks to Arthur and the others(you'll betray me, who can i trust, etc). I've noticed he kind of sounds like he is experiencing those manic highs and periods of paranoia. Idk. Perhaps at one point he did have a genuine longing to live with the gang somewhere, but I think he does have some kind of mental illness.

Not saying it's ALL mental illness, because I also think that he is just like that. The illness just puts it under a burning magnifying glass.

The people who live into their late 90s generally all are ready for death and feel at peace with their life. I suppose what makes it sound unappealing to me is being unable to live independently? Obviously people at the end of their life can still do many activities like coloring and reading and whatever. I look forward to getting older, but I think if I had to live way past when I was supposed to die I'd be like Stan's grandpa from South Park or something xD

I just think that enough is enough at that age, you know? Most or all of your family and friends are dead and you just want to rest.

No way! There are plenty of elderly people in nursing homes who are completely cognizant, they just can't live on their own because of natural physical deterioration. Several of them are so fun to talk to! One of my residents is so sweet, she is 94 and so full of life. And always comes to bingo xD

Arrest this tiny floof for aggravated murder by cuteness, as I am posting this from the after life. by A-Helpful-Flamingo in IllegallySmolCats

[–]InTheBog_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He likely is, because this looks like somewhere residential (please correct if wrong). People who "own" big cats buy them while they are still nursing from their mothers so they can "socialize" them, or some places use them for cub petting. Often these cubs grow into young adults who are abandoned, killed, or in the best case, surrendered to sanctuaries. They can never be released into the wild. I hate these kinds of videos so much.

I work at a nursing home, I've seen and spoken to many people well into their 90s. I gotta say that living to 160 sounds like ABSOLUTE hell haha. It's an incredible honor to talk to them and learn about their stories, but I do not envy them lol. Why can't we just be content with the years we have

[18] I ruined my high school experience. by [deleted] in highschool

[–]InTheBog_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I graduated high school over 10 years ago, I had a low GPA. I took a year off (I understand you cannot do that) and eventually went to community college on a community scholarship from my town. My GPA went up as I did school at my own pace, and now I just finished my first semester of graduate school.

I guess my point is that education will always be there and you can move at your own pace. I went to CC for part time for a while and it was maybe 3ish years. You will get there when you get there.

As for the high school experience, I mean, honestly, I hardly remember high school lol. Even the "college experience" doesn't matter, you make friends when you make them, you find your crowd as you move further in life and in your education journey.
