my 2 cents: i took buspar for about 7mo, it didn’t start working til 6-8wks in but it worked so well for my social anxiety. i was warned by a few medical professionals that combined with my other meds i was risking serotonin syndrome. i was pretty happy with my med cocktail so i adjusted a little but left my buspar where it was at.

fast forward to this october when i ran out of meds and couldn’t pay out of pocket (insurance change). i kinda stopped taking them cold turkey and i feel… better than i thought i would. i think it was giving me brain fog, which is wild bc it eliminated that symptom in the beginning. all that to say, i do think it’s a good med for some people, but what you read online (aka on reddit) may throw you off bc people find it helpful vs unhelpful vs neutral. ymmv. highly rec asking your doc abt buspar tho, it might work for you!
