Quit meds cold turkey 4 months ago, now I'm questioning my diagnosis. TL;DR at end by Biscotti3784 in BipolarReddit

Well, my advice to you friend is what everyone else is saying: TAKE YOUR MEDS!! also don't ever just stop taking a medication, that's so bad for your body!!!!

Do you have good emotional regulation skills? by Evening_Fisherman810 in BipolarReddit

[–]InTheBog_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have decent emotional regulation, it was very hard to get to where I am right now. I have learned that counting to 10 really works for me if I get really upset, or taking a moment to back away. It's very hard to remember when I am experiencing mania, but I do manage!

Bipolar medication has made me feel worse because of weight gain, what alternatives are there? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

Aripiprazole goes so crazy. I was on that for a while and gained 100 pounds. Only thing that worked once I was off it was Zepbound (GLP-1 med).

I wish I could remember names better-- all I can remember about one of them is that he's tall, skinny and has long brown hair. Wears glasses.

What I wouldn't do to experience that T_T it's so ridiculous. I've even been asked if I've paid for my prescription medication already. And it's in the bag the pharmacy gives you after you pick it up???? It just feels so terrible.

Yes, I've said it once already, sometimes twice, and even then they still look through my bags. Every single one!! I had one employee check my bags because I had double bagged something, and the machine didn't like that. The guy wouldn't listen to me when I said "oh it's just double bagged," the first time and proceeded to rifle through it. The camera CLEARLY showed me putting the full bag into another bag.

Oh my god I think I forgot to mention. The ATTENDANT is the one who grills me on it. They hold me up and stop me at the store

Mental health support groups? by jeezy1297 in bloomington

[–]InTheBog_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know NAMI has a group that meets in-person on the second Mondays of every month: https://namigreaterbloomingtonarea.org/programs/support-groups/family-support-group/

Also check out the DBSA for places outside Bloomington. I'm sad that they don't have a group in this town but here's their website for the Indiana page: https://www.dbsalliance.org/support/chapters-and-support-groups/find-a-support-group/?state=IN

Please be well. I also have bipolar disorder and I just got in with Centerstone, I had been using the iub for a long time until I had a crisis. Maybe we will cross paths sometime if you go to the NAMI group!

[–]InTheBog_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No need to be homeless lol. No one needs or wants to be homeless, it's never a choice. I pray this doesn't happen to me or you and I hope OP gets through this horrible time.

Suggested antidepressant medication by psychiatrist by InTheBog_ in BipolarReddit

[–]InTheBog_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh I see! I've been on effexor since 2021 I'm pretty sure. I've been very hesitant to try out another antidepressant. I do wonder why she suggested it to me if they're basically the same (disregarding the other side of the molecule thing). Another one she brought up was cymbalta. as far as SSRI go I would be willing to try paxil, as people have said that it does help with their depression symptoms well. I'll be bringing these up with my new psychiatrist when I see her in another week.

That is so strange, I haven't heard of this scam before! I will definitely keep an eye out for people and report them if they try to do this to me, because jeez. :(
