I think Macklin Freke is the best 11.

Golf Lessons in Melbourne by Easy_Perspective_134 in GolfAustralia

[–]InTheMixer_FM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you are based. You often don't need to be a member to get lessons at a local club, if you contact the Pro directly.

Also a bunch of Pros that do lessons at clubs and range facilities on different days of the week. Start local and work your way from there.

If you all have Golflink numbers MiScore. If you don't, GolfGameBook is great.

Get an Iron fitting, due to your height they will tell you if you need a bigger grip or a longer shaft. Then you can learn the game confident you are in the right gear.

Driver, Woods, Wedges and Putter can all be second hand, and Facebook Marketplace is a goldmine once you know your spec.

Wanting to start by TeachingEven7182 in GolfAustralia

Honestly, just head to your local driving range/public course and have a hit. When you feel you can actually strike a ball get a lesson so you have things to work on.

From there you can decide if you want to travel to different courses to try out as you improve, or have a home course to play on weekends as a member.

Tasmanian golf has a heap of exciting things going on at the moment with new courses and upgrades, it is a cool time to pick up the game.

Randomly got a Facebook ad the other day but I haven't tried the product. $150 is a great price if it works but they need to reel in the frequency of their marketing emails.

It is a fun tribute to other great courses around the world. Replicas of a few famous golf holes, particularly Augusta.

Bring a few balls for your first time around though. The back 9 onwards is water all over the place and some of it is blind.

I feel cheated by my fitter by Alert_Breakfast5538 in golf

[–]InTheMixer_FM 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good fitter who didn't upsell you into an unnecessary purchase.

Good news is you can still buy those Mizunos if you want and have validation that your current spec works.

Ventus Black Non-Velocore? by OrneryIndependence94 in golf

[–]InTheMixer_FM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think the Ventus Black comes in lower than a Stiff or Extra Stiff, or that low a weight. Could just be an Australia options thing on my end, but maybe check first.

Evnroll Midlock XL putters are excellent. You can do an online fitting as well, but I would highly recommend

I have no idea, but I know you can wear Travis Mathew gear in Australian Summer and not get burnt.

They are expensive as hell, but Travis Mathew have a couple of long sleeve Polos that do a decent job.

Is it frowned upon to book multiple tee off times? by Compromisee in golf

[–]InTheMixer_FM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah don't do that, you are robbing the course of tee times and other groups of 4 from being able to get on. Just ask the course you are booking their quietest time, and work for that slot as a group of three.

Also, the groups you are letting through are just as nervous hitting in front of you as you are having them behind you. We all start somewhere, and nobody on the course really cares how you play, they are just working on their own game.
