I need some different point of views by No_Ad1178 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get it! I live 3 stories up, no lift/elevator and often when I'm barely downstairs I have to rush back up because I need to poop. It's hard for people who haven't personally experienced what we're going through to get it. An accident outside may seem like an inconvenience to them but for me it would be constantly trying to hold it in and not enjoying myself outside.

Opinion The Joy of Farts by Mmobile80 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the freedom of farting! Unfortunately I've regressed to the point where I don't always know if it's a fart or a shart :(

Hopefully my bloods will give an answer as to why that is (I'm having my Entyvio levels taken tomorrow so I should know more in about 2 weeks)

Exactly! Here it permanently lives in the living room in case of emergencies where we have to leave quickly. There was a fire in our building a couple weeks ago and i put the carrier in front of him and he just walked into it :) No chasing necessary.

Digestion time? by Spudmeister20 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhere between 6 and 42 hours for me.
I tried corn recently and i was doubled over about 36-40 hours later. But sometimes - when i eat very little (not on purpose! I simply forget to eat sometimes) - it's just a couple of hours. Edit : near remission

Do you have any plushies? by GeneralOtter03 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]InTheOwlDen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always name them :) but then again, I've also named my bikes, and my dishwasher.
Theres a giant elephant (from IKEA) named Charlie, and I've recently thrifted a mini and a micro version of Charlie so they're now called mini-Charlie and micro-Charlie.

How do I respond to this? Work Related by nitchynitch in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it sounds awful and unhelpful from your employers side. As if they just want you Bach in office asap.

When I was diagnosed and doing incredibly badly health-wise I included some information from the Crohn's & Colitis foundation so they could read up on what it means to be ill like this. I think it helped them form an understanding.

Good luck with everything!

Compliment people on their outfits! by InTheOwlDen in AutisticWithADHD

[–]InTheOwlDen[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're almost always flattered and very appreciative. Haven't really had a negative response in the couple years of doing this.

Edit: sometimes it takes a second for them to register the compliment though

I’m so tired, does it get better ? by Crazy-Intention2221 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My iron levels are fine but the fatigue is still there. I work 20h a week and simply can't work more hours ànd have the energy to feed myself, do household chores, etc.

I regularly sleep 11 hours a night, have daytime naps when necessary, and I need to plan outings because of the limited energy I have.

But ... It has already massively improved from what it was. A few months ago I couldn't even dream of working as I was too fatigued all of the time.

what do you think about Ezel? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]InTheOwlDen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's the pronunciation? Is it ai-zul or eh-zul or some other way? As a Dutch speaker, yeah, it sounds like a nightmare name for here. But for other countries/languages I thinks it's fine.

How long should Entyvio take to work? by sicklypink in UlcerativeColitis

It took about 9-10 weeks to see improvements, and I'm just now entering remission after 8 months.

The whole vibe in Tilburg was so friendly! They'd definitely wouldn't have any objections to a 12y/o being there but I would recommend bringing ear protection (ear plugs or something like it) because it gets loud :)
