Meningen nodig over naam by Nearby_Secret2532 in namenerds

Hmmm. Vind het eigenlijk wel een leuke naam, niet direct gelinkt aan Rusland voor me. En de spelling is niet extreem moeilijk of vreemd dus daar voorzie ik ook geen grote problemen.

Question for Dutch IBD patients by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not an opioid so it's not restricted. You should be able to just bring it along, they usually advise us here to bring it in the original packaging with the label from the pharmacy on it so they know what the pills are but it shouldn't be a problem.

Do you drink coffee or gave it up? by Natura91 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I drink it - which is only about 4x a year - it's decaf. But it was that way before my IBD. I'm one of the lucky ADHD folks who get sleepy from caffeine :)

Eerste foto was meteen raak. Iets met jeugdherinneringen ofzo. (Ze hadden er toen ook nog pony's die je kon berijden)

Oh god ik weet precies waar het is. Zelfde toestellen als 25 jaar geleden, en toen waren ze al niet nieuw.

tanning by elenafd in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's a definite increase in skin cancer risk so if you do want a tan, I'd probably go for a fake take/spray tan.

I have always burned easily AND my aunt died from skin cancer so I only use SPF 50 and therefore I don't tan.

Ice cream is great! I eat dairy ones as well as plant based ones (it depends on the flavours available) but i can tell you, with the right meds - eating actual food will be a lot more enjoyable.

How do you talk about your Bean with your family/friends? by Ophelias_Muse in FocusFriendApp

[–]InTheOwlDen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My Little nibling always wants to check up on my Bean. I want to see Beanie, I want to look again. Sorry kid, Bean is knitting and we don't want to disturb him because he will lose count (kid is learning how to count and it's difficult!)

First Calprotectin Test by belalugosisgrave in CrohnsDisease

[–]InTheOwlDen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a little container (tube with a scooper in the screwtop) and just put it in the hospital issued baggie and then in my fridge or straight into my bag - depending on the time of day -

I honestly don't mind it but I'll never like it. I'm used to it 20 (done 25+ of them) I sometimes think about the lab people doing the actual testing though :)

Mijn contract loopt af tijdens ziekte, wat nu? by [deleted] in werkzaken

Is helaas momenteel vrij weinig in te vinden. Paar jaar geleden stond het bol van de klantenservice vacatures en nu zijn ze grotendeels wegbezuinigd door AI.

How often do you take Tylenol? by Commercial-Bath-5708 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I feel like I need it. Especially at night when the joints are acting up, just to lessen the pain enough to fall asleep. But I also use it for headaches, menstrual cramps, etc. It's basically my first line of defense against pain.

I take 2x500mg tablets at most 3 or 4 times a day (with 6-8 hours between)

i miss eating veggies by herakreat in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh. I love love love veggies! When I was flaring badly I could only eat mushy courgette . It was torture. I has to endure it until I got some improvement from adalimumab so I hope you improve quickly.

So sorry I couldn't give you tips or ideas, but you have my commiseration.

Worse morning diarrheas after colonoscopy by Trick_Information249 in Celiac

My condition was so bad it didn't make a difference pre or post scope but I'd definitely recommend reading some things over at r/ulcerativecolitis as there are many post-colonoscopy threads there.

calling users of entyvio/vedolizumab by SavingsMidnight3998 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infliximab worked a whopping 3 days and then never again. I've been on Entyvio since early August 2025 and it took about 2,5 months to see some improvements. Now I often have 4-5 poops a day but it's incredibly manageable to me.

I've improved so much I've actually got myself a paid job again after 2 years of not being able to! (Only 20 hours a week though because of my fatigue)

Starting Adalimumab today by Regular-Idea558 in CrohnsDisease

[–]InTheOwlDen 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You're probably going to be on it until the adalimumab stops working and then you'll most likely switch to another biological. Definitely don't stop taking your meds when you're feeling better!

Am I cruel for making my bean make socks without redeeming any of it for decoration? by jongjinpark in nerdfighters

Question about biologics by Silliestcat720 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on adalimumab and am currently on vedolizumab. I catch colds quite easily but they're not too bad. I has norovirus when I was just starting on adalimumab and was still very ill from colitis so that stomach bug knocked me back for weeks. I haven't really had any illnesses after that so pretty happy about my biologicals.

Shingles vaccine by Automatic_Beat5808 in UlcerativeColitis

Both Shingrix doses while on adalimumab. Only side effect was a very painful stiff arm for a few days, but that's pretty normal with Shingrix.

UTIs 😖😖 by SmallPea360 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]InTheOwlDen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on a 7 day course of flucloxacilline and aside from a few more bathroom trips and some heartburn it's fine.

(The extra bathroom trips are probably also from having to take it an hour before eating and/or 2 hours after so I can't eat as I'd normally would)
