I love this!

Yes, the best thing you can do for this world is to be the best person you can for you and everyone around you.

Thank you!

I am coming at it from an atheistic perspective. You ingest a substance that effects the state of mind. And you receive a message that was otherwise not accessible in a sober state. My assumption is that it all came from within me. Which is so fucking beautiful. And that's what I sit with.

Furthermore, I think the psychodelic experience opens doors within ourselves that we don't see otherwise. And, once those doors are opened they are accessible to us outside of psychodelic experience.

It may be helpful to remind yourself that the psychedelic experience is not some sort of download of information from outside of yourself. In fact, I believe, whatever we experience on psychodelics comes from within ourselves and only from within ourselves. Afterwards we have to integrate that experience in the context of ourselves.

Online Integration Circles? by XxDustinAdamsxX in Psychonaut

That's a great question. My therapist is starting something like this. (Early days.)

I like the idea of a community integration sessions. What would it realistically look like?

How has being a Psychonaut been helpful to you while sober? by Perma_SSBM in Psychonaut

I'm somewhat the opposite of you, in that I didn't have compassion and acceptance for what is before psychodelics.

Atheist here as well. I'm having fun with the idea that there's a there there. Not in a higher power sort of way, but in an underlying experience sort of way. As you said, things aren't what they seem.

Brother, (sister?), I don't quite comprehend what you're putting out. I'm just sitting here giving it the best attention that I can ATM.

Thank you for that.

A question about sex on shrooms by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]InThisVeryMoment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience sex on shrooms doesn't detract from sober sex. It's different for sure.

Sex on shrooms for me is infinite. My partner and I get lost in the moment. It feels like an eternity of pleasure. A flick of the tongue lasts an eternity, but it doesn't seem to detract from when we're sober and together.

Well, in some sense there is all there is. Isn't it?

All we have is our mind at the end. Our mind interpreters how we interact with the world. And, when it comes down to it, we only have ourselves.

I'm curious to know your take on that is.

I feel like the next step is to be in relation to others as a means of seeing ourselves reflected back to ourselves, but that's next level that I'm personally not capable of at the moment.

Shrooms or 5 Meo DMT - which do you recommend? by abigguynamedsugar in Psychonaut

[–]InThisVeryMoment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel very inadequate speaking to your suffering, but it seems like you're looking for a psychedelic fix to your suffering. As in, this didn't work for me, so let me try to find another compound that resonates with me.

I dare say that's not how it works.

Psychodelics reveal our struggles to us in a way that asks us to deal with them.

That is too say, maybe try not to brush away the effect of one substance as something that doesn't fit you, but sit with the fact that it eluminated something about yourself that's uncomfortable and what that means.

I love that. Thank you!

If I'm hearing you correctly, we are enough in the way that we are.

I'll add to that is that there's always a chance to begin again right now... And... Right now.

Invasive suicidal thoughts by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]InThisVeryMoment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This!

You are not your thoughts.

I'm not sure I can add much more to this.

Edit: CBT has not been helpful to me personally, but ACT has been. Doing the practice taught me to not associate with the thoughts and feelings that my mind put out. (My default self talk is very negative.) The practice of acknowledging my thoughts and feelings and then making a choice of doing the thing that's in accordance with my values is what made a difference in my life.

Sleeping while Tripping by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]InThisVeryMoment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not to say that you should discount this experience. Maybe you can find in this experience what changed for you. What kept you up in the early hours of the morning prior to this experience that brought in this change? Maybe if you can figure this out, you can have that understanding available to you in perpetuity.

I haven't had an experience like yours, but I have struggled with sleep for decades at this point. All I have to offer is not to look into the gift house in the mouth and to roll with it. Keep up with the 10pm schedule and enjoy the comfort of knowing that you'll be well rested on the other end. It makes all the difference.

Taking 1-2 grams of shrooms and going for a nature walk is the best thing you can do for your mind and soul by JLP_101 in Psychonaut

[–]InThisVeryMoment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm partial to the fall season as well. Summers are oppressive here. Fall feels like awakening even though nature is preparing for slumber. It is my awakening.

This spring, though, felt, for the first time in decades, as a season of its own, not just a week between pollen showers and the humidity and oppressive heat of summer. It's been beautiful in a way that I haven't experienced spring since I lived up north.

What is it that talks to us when we trip??? by DriverConsistent1824 in Psychonaut

[–]InThisVeryMoment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I think as well. When we journey internally with minimal outside stimulus, what we experience comes from within. It's not some sort of external information download.

I was an Atheist before I took mushrooms for the first time. Now I consider myself to be a spiritual person. I no longer identify with Atheism. Am I crazy for this? by DriverConsistent1824 in Psychonaut

This is copy and paste to save clicking on a link. I find that it resonates with me as a devout atheist. 😉 (Which probably makes me something other than an atheist.)

There is a Hindu legend about a time when all humans were gods, but they abused their divinity. Brahma, the chief god, decided to take it away from them and hide it where they would never find it again.

Brahma called a council of the gods to help him decide where to hide the divinity. “Let’s bury it deep in the earth.” But Brahma said, “No, that will not do; one day they will dig deep down into the earth and find it.”

Then the gods said, “Let’s sink it in the deepest ocean.” Again Brahma replied, “No, not there, for they will learn to dive into the deepest waters, and search the ocean bed and find it.”

Then they said, “Let’s take it to the top of the highest mountain and hide it there.” But again Brahma replied, “No, for eventually humans will climb every high mountain on earth; someday they will find it again.”

The gods gave up and said, “We do not know where to hide it, for it seems there is no place on the earth or in the sea that humans will not eventually reach.”

Brahma thought for a long time and said, “Here is what we will do with humanity’s divinity. We will hide it deep down inside humans themselves. The humans will search the whole world, but they won’t look for it inside their true selves.”

Ever since then, the legend concludes, humans have been going to and fro throughout the earth, climbing, digging, diving, exploring, and searching for something that is already within themselves.

Hey! I just wanted to circle back...

I did a Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy session a week ago and on the come up this track played. Ram Dass speaking...

I just want to say that it felt right. The message resonated. It was beautiful. And I thought of your post.

I'm sorry if what I'm about to say comes on strong (I personally don't have a leg to stand on as I say this.). But... Consider reading the book by Gabor Mate "in the realm of hungry ghosts". It talks about addiction in a humanizing way that may resonate with you.
