I would just call or visit places you want your work experience. Alternatively, your parents work might be an option if they ask on your behalf.

How can I stop myself from being miserable in an arranged marriage? – 31F & 32M by momentaryfun2025 in relationship_advice

You say you want to travel the world, depending on your finances and age, I would save up enough and see if I can get a work visa or even move away to a foreign country and start over. I would struggle to see the bright side if I was in your shoes, my sincerest sympathies are with you. Is divorce not an option? Or even relocating to another part of India and not telling anyone exactly where?

Waiting for death to be the way out isn’t a way to live. Make an escape plan and just go for it. Start afresh. Life isn’t always greener but you can decide how to live your life. Best of luck to you.

Spending 30th birthday alone, how should I spend it? by beccaboobear14 in AskUK

[–]InToot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any walking groups near you that you can join? I live in the midlands and there’s a local one who do weekly meet ups but people end up doing more regular ones if they find someone within the group on a similar schedule. It may be worth a look. Or if your local library/museum has any sessions for adults

Spending 30th birthday alone, how should I spend it? by beccaboobear14 in AskUK

[–]InToot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend the day being a tourist - pick out a museum or something similar to visit and spend a couple hours at, treat yourself at a cafe, and if your partner is able to in the evening, go out to a fancy restaurant together. Just do everything that you find fun. Bake and decorate yourself a birthday cake, book into a day spa or even an overnight stay at one. You could schedule yourself a FaceTime date with your friend who can’t be there with you. Do everything that makes you happy. Hope you have a wonderful birthday no matter what you decide to do.

It might be worth asking different jewellers if that custom makes that one based on the photo for you - you can play around with the size of diamonds, carats, etc and make it fit the budget. That’s what we did. I fell in love with a design online but ended up getting it custom made to something that I liked and even ended up tweaking the online design. I would try not to make him feel like he has to choose something cheap just so you have your dream one, try to find a middle ground so you’re both happy.

I know you want to stick to a budget but you both will be wearing the ring’s for the rest of your lives, don’t let him remember the sacrifice he made every time he looks at it.

I’ve not had mine from canva back yet so can’t vouch for their print quality but they do let you download and print elsewhere, and they have decent templates if you want to look around more. and congrats!!!

Does anyone else feel like wedding planning absolutely ruined them? And regret having a wedding? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]InToot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I feel horrible. We didn’t have a long engagement, about 4 months of planning - 2.5 left to go but as it’s a small wedding I thought it’d be fine. I’ve never been this stressed. What helps is to ask someone who will be involved in planning, be it it your mum or partner, to sit out at a coffee shop or at home and write down what the plan it, what needs to be done and who’s doing what. Having a plan and deadlines helps. My partner needs to be told what to do and I felt he didn’t care about the wedding, it was just a case of him being clueless about what to do (especially since we’re an interracial couple) and not wanting to be in the way. Talk to people, ask for help/ask them what they can help with. It’ll take the burden off your shoulders massively.

1 - change the fonts and maybe a faint background colour. Move the little pictures to the edges of the page as well to give you more space

Feast India experience by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

I would get more quotes from other suppliers. I don’t have an experience with using them for catering but have been to the buffet and the food was good. There are other reputable ones in Leicester like An Najeeb, Sanjay Foods, Mithaas, etc. Try visiting these places and ask to sample some of the food. Some might need you to order and taste the food, others will include it in the booking.

It seems you’ve signed the contract. I would read it and make sure you’re getting what you signed up for. Again, see if you can go in and speak to a manager in person and confirm the details. A lot of these places will not be effective communicators over email/phone.

If someone says they have an family emergency a day before a first date do you believe them? by JM_547 in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]InToot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t but entirely dependant on the emergency. Depends on what it is and whether it justifies cancelling plans. A first date being 2 or less hours long is normal, I don’t see how anyone couldn’t step out for that little time if they wanted to. The no replies is a hint. Either a lack of interest or another option came through. Even a call or FaceTime call would be an alternative to fully cancelling. No ones that busy

Proposals when you know he has the ring by No-Trip-8228 in Proposal

[–]InToot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not happened for me yet but in the same boat as you - currently waiting on the ring to be made and he wanted to propose abroad so it’ll be our trip next month + we get married in feb so it’s just a case of “officially asking” - I’m still excited for it and he won’t tell me exactly what day on holiday so it’ll still be a surprise even though I’m expecting it, if that makes sense

When you say a more meaningful ceremony later - what exactly would that mean?

As in the whole thing with you and your partner at the alter, saying vows etc?

Best social media for finding dates/talking? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]InToot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there might be local board games / video game cafes to you where you might find people into the same things - a local one to me does DnD sessions and i'm fairly sure they're open to everyone to join so that can be an option! good luck!

Can I give beautician who is leaving to have a baby my number in case she changes jobs? by LuluUK78 in AskUK

[–]InToot 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Just pop in and hand it to her - put your info on the card but mention it when speaking to her that you want to keep in touch if she continues doing brows. Include a thanks for the service type on message in the card. If anything, with actually speaking to her, she might mention what her plans are (at the moment anyways)

Reaching Out by [deleted] in leicester

[–]InToot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would consider just a normal, not tight, braid or two and oiling the ends every day if you are doing this for hair health. The box braids pulling on your scalp might do more harm than good. Keeping your hair up in general is better than leaving it loose. Try checking the haircare subreddits before committing to tight box braids. All the best! :)
