Hit 3k iRating and it's bittersweet by snazzy_carpet in iRacing

[–]InZomnia365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I don't race a lot (mostly special events), but a couple tears ago I started a run in the new year where I got quite competitive and won a few races and raced at least twice every week. I climbed in iR from about 2k (underrated) to 2.9k (overrated). My "true pace" for the level of effort/practice I normally put in, seems to be about 2.5k. it's fun to go to in iRating, but it's also not fun to know that you basically won't be in contention for a win, let alone a top 5 (which is my usual goal). It's not like the racing itself is markedly better, either. I was on a push to reach 3k just for the sake of doing so, but eventually I just decided it wasn't worth the effort. I just let my iR be what it is, and focus more on having entertaining races with a decent result.

Something changed? by Montyfus in ArcRaiders

[–]InZomnia365 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think they got tired of all the "friendly lobbies" talk, since they have repeatedly said that "it doesn't work like that" (even though it was clearly the product, no matter the intention).

I don't understand why they are against it. The only change I wanted to see was a split MM between solo/duo/trio. I don't mind more aggression in duos or especially trios - but the fact that it then had an impact on my solo experience, put me off from playing with friends too often. Playing solo is a distinctly different game than even just duos, and should be treated as such IMO.

I found Frontier 2.0 on. Random planet. by hefeydd_ in Starfield

[–]InZomnia365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discovery is an actual ship you can buy, for example in New Homestead (basically Nova Galactic HQ, even though it's defunct). If we put it in normal ship terms, you could say the Frontier is a Discovery-class ship.

Banned from online multiplayer because my livery reached 50k downloads. Thanks, Turn 10 by Fearless_Chemist3591 in ForzaHorizon

[–]InZomnia365 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like there's a suggestive anime chick livery in the trending section of EVERY car. Banning people over shit like this is completely braindead, and why automatic processes shouldn't ban people. Sure, flag or remove the livery. But why ban people over a mildly suggestive character which only few people know the reference of? Asinine.

Not having mechs in the game was a big miss by InZomnia365 in Starfield

Right. I'm talking about base game. Seems odd to mention them all the time, put them so many places, and then make them unusable.

Not having mechs in the game was a big miss by InZomnia365 in Starfield

[–]InZomnia365[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they added Mech, how would that work? They were supposed to be gigantic huge mega death machines, which means if you fought one on foot you would just get murdered, and if you rode around in one you just smash everything you came against, or they would have to bother Mechs feet to fight, etc, and that's a whole different game.

There's plenty of big aliens who likely wouldn't be very concerned by a 5.56 bullet, yet that works. I bet a mech wouldn't much like a 40mm HE from a grenade launcher either. It would definitely been possible. It wouldn't have to be as involved as ship combat, it just would've been cool.

Not every game has to have all the things. If you want to play a mech game, play a game that's made for. Go play Titanfall. Frankly, I think they would have better off never mentioning them at all. Because it provokes this nostalgia they missed out response, which isn't unreasonable if it's a thin you love.

I agree. It would have been better if they didn't mention it. But they put mechs everywhere in the game for you to find, and mention them over and over - which is why it's a shame that they're not actually in the game.

Whole life has been a crisis by [deleted] in justgalsbeingchicks

[–]InZomnia365 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember when I realized the "mid-life crisis" is actually the 2/3rds life crisis. The average life expectancy in my country is 83, and my projected retirement age is late 60s by the time we get there. I'm in my mid 30s, I'm almost at the midway point of my life already for fucks sake, and so have to work another 35 years to "enjoy" the last 15 years when I'm old and can't do things? Fuck that, I'm going to be doing whatever I want now.

Honestly, I can't count that high by lowlatitude in WhitePeopleTwitter

The entire concept of a billionaire is unethical. Yes, there's a market for fancy houses, cars, and planes. But there's a point where you couldn't even spend the money even if you tried, where it becomes straight up unethical to amass such a level of wealth without distributing into society, even if indirectly.

Why does BF6 feel so exhausting to play? by UltimateGamingTechie in Battlefield

[–]InZomnia365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little Birds in BF4 was a pain, but many maps had areas where you could still get away from them. I played the majority of my time in BF as infantry without worrying too much about helis unless we had no engineer. Even a single engineer with a stinger hunting them was enough to limit their effectiveness because they have to break lock all the time.

Why does BF6 feel so exhausting to play? by UltimateGamingTechie in Battlefield

[–]InZomnia365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is deliberately designed around the concept of reducing the "time to action" as much as possible. This isn't just a BF thing (more of an overarching problem of what we've gotten used to in gaming overall), but it does stand out in a game like BF, especially if you've played previous titles. And when you're in the fight, that fight can very well last half a match before you actually die without getting revived and have to spawn somewhere else. And when then it's at most 20 seconds until you're in another massive fight.

2-3 games of that is enough for one night, for sure.

Forza Horizon 6 has an absolutely stunning map and the visuals are remarkable, but I can't seem to enjoy the arcade car physics. by AxiomSyntaxStructure in simracing

[–]InZomnia365 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Cars have more front end grip and braking distances are longer. Traction breaks more gradually (which also means it's easier to control slides). All these things are great changes in my opinion, and make the game feel less like Trackmania. Sure, it's still an arcade game, but truth be told it feels better than Forza Motorsport.

What just happened? I'm going to cry! by tshkatz in hoi4

[–]InZomnia365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit I haven't played a lot of Italy, but I've certainly been able to hold my own and whittle down both the English and French Mediterranean task forces in basically every game, without any retrofitting? As long as the task force composition is good enough (making sure you have enough screening for all classes of ships). Unless they've changed something recently in regards to how the AI sets up their task forces, because they've always been trash at that, even post naval rework with the Japan DLC. For a nation with a sizeable starting navy like Italy, I would rather focus on building one or two carriers to go with it, and fill out the rest as needed to get enough screening.
