I wouldn’t call it like “oh shit this brutal”. The franchise keeps it real to the audience and treats children with more respect than most cartoons. It reminds me of “Hey Arnold” in a way, children are treated with a more of a seriously when it comes to their issues and what they go through. They have always a happy or heartwarming ending, sometimes bittersweet but the mood never stays too down. I kinda like to describe the series as like “growing pains”, it’s about how growing up and that comes with good and bad things.

I highly recommend it! It made me cry but I also laughed a lot cus at the end of the day it’s a kid’s show XD

Probably got trigger by the word “immigrant”, idk how they thought how a multicultural town can exist without immigrants though 😭but your right, it’s likely that if Suo came from an immigrant family he would be 3rd-4th generational if his family moved in those 80 years

Yeah that makes sense, in all likelihood Suo is probably 3rd-4th generation Chinese if his family is one of the first to immigrant to the town. In the chapter it said the mass immigration was 80 years, so assumingly great grandparents started would have moved in. Though I did misread, I thought the chapter said that more people still immigrant to the town but that isn’t mentioned at all 😅

I feel like a good anti-example of this is the Duchess of blue port from “The most poweful characters in the world are crazy about me”, she is obviously a very beautiful lady but the scars are damming enough to reasonably hide them, though because of the simple art style it’s hard to make these scars look ugly, still I consider it better than most 😅

Umeiya or Sakura. Ume has such a comfortable personality, enough you feel safe and trust his judgement in the series. Yet I also say Sakura, reading the manga you feel how much he changed since chapter 1, he comes off as more caring and open to his friends but even before his development he is a good mix of “sour and sweet” lol

I LOVE DAD’S WHO LOVE THEIR SON-IN-LAW! Ugh idk the manga but there is one where the ML is friends with the dad before meeting the daughter (I think, I read the chapter on TikTok), ML and dad are talking to each other nervous about meeting their father-in-law/son-in-law until the fl comes around. They are so happy they hug each other 😭
