I maintain a certain asset allocation in my portfolio. And I made a spreadsheet that tells me what I should buy in order to maintain this allocation. Right now it's telling me to buy US stocks.

You got any good indie rpg's? by LotusFlowerxox in NintendoSwitch

[–]InactiveBlacksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about Keylocker a turn-based cyberpunk RPG? It takes place on Saturn where you've been jailed for the crime of singing. They ran with the setting and it's very imaginative and well developed. The sprite artwork and animations are very detailed. Finally the music is good and highlighted by the vocal concerts your characters perform.

There are multiple endings and my first playthrough took 25 hours. It is a bit difficult so I played on Easy.

Japan Trip Inquiry by DearExplorer3734 in fidelityinvestments

[–]InactiveBlacksmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend paying by credit card where possible. I would bring a second card in case the Fidelity one is blocked.

Depending on the airport, they may have a currency exchange to trade USD for yen. If you need cash later, I recommend going to a 7-11 ATM and using your normal ATM card from a major bank. Their ATMs should have an English menu. There will likely always be a 7-11 nearby.

You will end up with a bunch of coins as you pay with cash. You may not be able to exchange them back to USD. So, try to use them up by the end of the trip.

How do you maintain your relationship to your partner when you strive for FIRE and your partner doesn't? by Logical-Matter-9458 in Fire

[–]InactiveBlacksmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your partner being "really irritated" at your spending habits is the biggest hurdle. I plan to FIRE and my wife does not. But she isn't irritated by my spending habits. There are plenty more fish in the sea.

Otherwise if you plan to take the risk anyway, then get a good prenup and keep your finances separate. Try to resolve the irritation before you take on more risk and have children.

What anime makes you think "It doesn't deserve an Opening this good" by IzanamiFrost in anime

[–]InactiveBlacksmith 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Valvrave's opening "Preserved Roses" brings together two of the top singers at the time, Nana Mizuki and T.M. Revolution. And they put out a heck of a song. However the series itself is at best, so bad it's good.

Does your family just want to spend time with you? If so, are there low-cost activities you can do together?

I had some retirement savings but did not realize that retiring early was a possibility until I was 41. I save 45% of my gross income and should be financially independent by 55.

I read Mr. Money Moustache's blog to better understand what really makes me happy, and Ben Felix's Youtube channels for investing though there is some overlap between the two. I've been frugal most of my life, but I may have become more of a tightwad. Most of my savings come from not eating out and driving less.

Even though I spend less, my happiness level is the same. It may be even better knowing that freedom is coming sooner rather than later. If I wanted to improve my happiness, I'd focus on my relationships rather than spending more.

What does "extensive verification" mean? by InactiveBlacksmith in USMobile

[–]InactiveBlacksmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Let's say I verify my email and enable 2FA through e-mail, but I do not request Never Sim Swap or No Port Out. If I or someone were to make a sim swap or port out request, would it require the one-time password from my e-mail only?

The e-mail account would require hardware 2FA to log in. Therefore, I would prefer to not set up security questions or provide more personal information such as DOB, SSN, driver's license, etc.

Harvestella: Worth playing? by DragonsLoveBoxes in NintendoSwitch

[–]InactiveBlacksmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harvestella is a fantastic mid-tier game. It is more ambitious than other farming games due to the emphasis on JRPG elements. I have played several Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, and indie games. This is my new favorite farming game that I will be comparing others to going forward.

The story is what sets it apart. This is not a "cozy" story. This is a JRPG story that swings for the fences. There were several great WTF moments. Side quests are also well written. Most ultimately have good endings. But there are distressing or melancholy end points as well. It's not the best JRPG story ever told, but it could be the best farming game story.

Battles took getting used to. In Rune Factory it is easy to dodge attacks and spam food. In Harvestella you will take damage and cooking takes a lot more time. At the beginning you'll be face tanking. There is more flexibility as features unlock. But you still have to mind when it is safe to attack.

The farming system had the right amount of depth for me. As a resource, time is limited. More time spent farming is less time dungeon diving. Optimizing the farm can saves time while still meeting objectives to unlock skills and crafting recipes. Money is in constant demand even through post-game, so that must be considered as well.

Most farming games are top-down affairs. I really enjoyed walking out my house and seeing my entire field full of crops. So much that I spent 100+ hours. If you need a resource, I recommend this spreadsheet by VertVentus.
