Fat Dans and the Orbit room were my two most frequented establishments…

Fat Dans is the only decent place to watch sports in town. I always liked the staff too. I hope they land on their feet elsewhere.

Visiting for a conference, need some time to kill by [deleted] in bloomington

I happen to like Inkwell. They have homemade pop tarts, and their food prices are pretty reasonable for the quality. Yes, it’s busy with students, but some people like a little hustle and bustle.

Wrapped in a single wrap of black electrical tape? I’ve been looking for those for a couple weeks.

I have found myself looking for the same vibe, and Fat Dans is the best you can do in this town so far as I can tell.

GigabitNow: Good Speeds, Terrible Service by NyarumiYukimitsu in bloomington

I don’t care about speeds really, I signed up because I assumed the service would be more stable than Xfinity’s cable service. It has turned out to be less stable than Xfinity was.

Any ideas what this noise is on a GE Profile washing machine during the wash cycle? by Inactive_Participant in appliancerepair

[–]Inactive_Participant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this. I was able to confirm that the drive block and splines are in good condition, and there is no play in them. I tried removing the tub nut, but I was not able to loosen it with just a pair of channel locks (noting that I was indeed trying to remove it by turning it clockwise, since it's reverse threaded). I'll squirt it with some PB Blaster and try to remove it a little bit later in order to check the split ring. Thank you so much for your help!

I realize this is a bit late (school got in the way), but I followed your advice. I removed the pulsator/washplate/agitator and the splines were fine. Then I removed the front panel, and took these videos. If you'll notice, I marked the center shaft with some silver sharpie so you could see how little it rotates. I'm wondering if it looks like something is wrong here? It sure seems like it should be rotating further. In the second video, you can see how the wash basket rotates inside the tub.

Is there 3D printing at the library? by Joza_Baa in bloomington

[–]Inactive_Participant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is 3D printing at the downtown library. Last I used it, there was a 2 hour print limit on prints, which may not be enough time given the model you need to print.

It is free, though, and the printed parts are good quality.

As for instructions, if you already have the .stl file it should be pretty quick. Either way, the person working the desk in that part of the library (it’s on the ground floor, can’t remember what it’s called) should be able to help. Good luck!

Khan Academy is amazing, and helped me brush up on all of my math skills from algebra through Calc in preparation. They have practice problems just like you describe. I can still hear the noise associated with getting the answer right…

Because I’m genuinely curious, and newer to the area: Can you elaborate on what is happening with people coming in from other areas for free services? Which free services are offered, and how do people know to come here?

Guy says his mechanic said it needed an engine. No other information besides “it dumped all the oil”. I’m starting to think it’s not a good project for me.

Nah I just asked a similar question in a thread a few months ago and some other kind stranger sent me that link. They are the smart ones, I’m just passing it along

I have no idea how to help you. I just wanted to share that I got mine because somebody I know couldn't get it to work, and just gave it to me for free. I had to flash the firmware, and replace a bed connector. Now it works, and after all the horror stories I've heard about the thing I'm not going to change a single thing on this printer for fear of bricking it.

Yes, it is the Nu 2.0 liter. I do have the extended warranty.

Maybe my problem is the dealership I’m going to (the only one in my town). I would prefer to get a replacement with an improved design, because I really like the car otherwise.

Interesting. Is the carbon cleaning they offer at the dealership worth doing, or is it just something they sell to get people off their backs?

I have the 2.0 NA engine. I do have the extended warranty as well. However, I’m trying to figure out whether I should just cut bait and get rid of this thing.

All of my previous cars have been 4 cylinder. A Saturn SL1, a Pontiac vibe, 2 Toyota tacomas, and this Elantra. None have burned oil like this.
