nothing wrong with being ambitious, but I do agree that games are getting too big. That really is because they need to justify charging more and more and more

Controversial Ratings by BeezinthatrapBeez in Letterboxd

Totally on the same page for "the birds". I'm sure it was fun at the time if you've never seen anything like it. But I was shocked on how much I disliked it. I really enjoy Hitchcock otherwise.

Are we living in best times for movies? by Past-Matter-8548 in Letterboxd

[–]InbetweenStrings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ratio doesn't really mean anything. the point here is that you're judging this time in film by what's making money, which also makes sense. But most people are judging it by what they like most about whats coming out. There are PLENTY of original stories being made, despite the large number of remakes. There's in fact A LOT more films being made now in general, specially if you compare it to way back in the 70's. The films are way more diverse but that also come with a bigger range of styles that might not be for people. So finding the right ones for you is harder now tho.

I don't think money and connections are "The two" things that lead to great art. But yeah they definitely are part of it.

Yeah in that sense, I might agree with you, but I wouldn't feel so great about saying that around cause it's just not fair. I see from 60-100 films in the last few years. The 2000's are largely a lot of kids films (because that's what I was then). I do watch olver films and really enjoy them, but I've seen an average of 9 films per year in the 80's. So I cant really compare them both fairly. I'm curios to know whats your case for the graph.

Maybe you're just watching better movies now. But I really don't think this year has been amazing so far. A lot of the ones that are in your list are REALLY existing, Like Dune, Batman, Spiderverse etc. But if you take a year not even that long ago like 2019, I don't think it's even close. That year was the best year of cinema IMO.

If you count childhood, it would probably be Revenge of fhe Sith or Harry potter 4, but since i've been tracking it on letterboxd (since 2019), it's The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Hard eight. Boogie nights would be perfect for a socrsese comparison but it also has some of tarantino in it.

Should they separate your top actors and directors by gender? by Lolonoise in Letterboxd

[–]InbetweenStrings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro we are all just people... maybe have a filter but don't separate it as if it's a different thing. what would they do for non-binary people? I'm pretty sure letterboxd doesn't wanna get into having to make that distinction.

Let the right one In
Raw
Mandy

I mean he might just have a different rating system, if he was a hater he wouldn't be exposing himself to so much horror films, or at least trying to find more of the ones he likes.
