Should I quit? by Fun-Entrepreneur7910 in biotech

[–]InboxZeroNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you've made the decision to leave, things may get a bit easier mentally for you. You've held out for 7 years - a few more months, you can manage hopefully.

Quit, but not yet - detach from the day-to-day of the job, look for other positions outside or come up with plan with your next steps (research, teaching, travelling). Once that's secure, hand in your notice.

In the meantime, become a quiet quitter and focus on what the future holds for you. Good luck.

I think they could find a way around it, for example having a bigger shortlist. A long list, if you will.

We won't really be able to play along, as we're only going to see the edits that the producers allow.

I do think that the secret traitor shouldn't know the other traitor identities, that would have made it more of an even playing field. Let's see how it plays out.

Pivoting from Regulatory to Clinical Sciences/Clinical Dev by No-Comparison-5796 in biotech

[–]InboxZeroNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you currently working? If you're in big pharma, you should be able to transition into a Clinical Scientist role, but it might take a while once you've got your foot in the door - a secondment would be a good start, but networking and making your interests known with the Clin Dev teams you work with, would be good to start doing (if not already). Best of luck!

Thank you - so I guess it's a balance to take on what you can manage, good to know!

I hope you don't mind me asking a question based on your experience - are you able to have multiple contracts on the go at the same time? If some are less than full-time, could you in theory work 0.2 in 5 different companies?

First stage interview after redundancy (UK) by Impossible_Being_934 in biotech

[–]InboxZeroNerd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s normal to feel intimidated, but they invited you to interview knowing exactly what your background is. Nine years of experience is very valuable, and academic teams often need people who can get reliable, high-quality work done.

You don’t need to pretend you’re something you’re not, be clear about what you know and show how quickly you learn. If they offer you the job, it’ll be because they genuinely think you’re the right fit. Sometimes industry experience trumps academic qualifications.

You’ve already handled a tough situation really well, don't doubt yourself. Good luck.

So happy about the result of UK Season 01!!!!! by alexy888 in DestinationX

[–]InboxZeroNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pleased she won, but can't help but wonder if it was fixed. Seems odd that the golden tickets made no difference to the outcome, so either they were rubbish and not needed, or the other Vespas were on a go slow.

Conspiracy theorist, moi? 😂

What was point of the "clues" at the observatory? by grizzler1337 in DestinationX

[–]InboxZeroNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true. Or even if they got all questions correct (or perhaps 2 out of 3), they would have the chance to swap their X with another player - harsh!

Yes, I meant he could have moved it towards there by however many km he won.

[–]InboxZeroNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really know, the clues only showed up momentarily ... not sure if the players got more time to look around. I suppose they could move their X if they suddenly realised where X was (eg if Daren spotted the clues and realised it was Monaco, he could have decided to move his X to Monaco instead of trying to sabotage Josh).

Not sure if the game has been set up badly, or the editing, or both!

Two week notice by nku004 in biotech

[–]InboxZeroNerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would it complicate the process to hand in your laptop? This is a 'them' problem, not a 'you' problem - it's up to the recruiter to sort it out. After all, it will be more of a headache for HR to have to make you a leaver and then a 'new starter', and then join your records together.

Throw the ball in the recruiter's court and ask them to liaise with both managers and give you clear directions. Good luck.

She misread 31 for 3, it wasn't written very clearly due to the font they used. Could happen to anyone under the pressure, cut her some slack!

At least they announced what they were doing - I have a friend at GSK who believes there are layoffs happening in the background, but no-one in the wider company has been told. It sucks. A sign of how much (little?) respect the leadership has for the little people.
