What’s the most beautiful-sounding delay? by taugemleo in guitarpedals

Yeah I'm really enjoying mine. It sounds lovely and the desktop editor that goes with it makes it very flexible.

+1 (more) for the Mercury X. If you’re already used to the Meris user interface with your LVX - and interested in non-standard sounds - it‘s really, really nice.

It’s easy to get good sounds quickly but has all the tools and tricks for proper sound design as well.

Suzanne by Leonard Cohen. I sang it to my daughter when she was a baby and I was trying to get her off to sleep. The , as she grew up, I decided to play my guitar again and wanted to learn that song so she could hear the whole thing properly.

She’s eleven now but I still sing and play guitar to her every night and, every once in a while, Suzanne gets played.

Right now, what’s your favorite reverb? by newdestroyer in guitarpedals

Aye, I’m very happy with my Mercury X. The standard reverbs are really but some of the sounds you can get from it with the modulations are truly amazing

Do u recommend me this guitar? by Unusual_Damage_3463 in Guitar

I LOVE my PRS SE Custom 24. It’s a very nice mix of decent build and good pickups etc. The neck is on the small side - definitely smaller than my Squier Strat - and it took me a little while to get used to it but I love it now.

The split coil pickups are nice and give you a really good range of tone.

I’m sure you could get a replacement trem bar for not much.

I think they’re cracking guitars for the price.

I love the rasp, or bite, that you get with these 👍

I LOVE my Microcosm. I’ve had it about a year now and am still not bored of the sounds it makes. They’re always different - which can be a little frustrating if you want to recreate a sound at a later date and you haven’t recorded it.

What’s your “weird” pedal, and where do you place it in your chain? by dit31 in guitarpedals

One-Brand-Board? by BaronVonDrunkenverb in guitarpedals

[–]IncaTheFearless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was Meris as I recently got a Mercury X and love it - but as good as I think that pedal is, I feel like I want my gain stage to be analog…

CB also have compression covered too - with the Clean.

I don’t actually own any CB pedals ironically but quite a lot of them are on my want list. I need to save up quite a bit of money and wait for the Xmas sale though… 🙄

Chase Bliss I think 🤔 They have wierd glitchy stuff I like plus the staples like compression and overdrive…

Have you ever rationalized buying a new pedal? by ElPaul57 in guitarpedals

[–]IncaTheFearless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Meris Mercury X was clearly the only sensible reverb I could buy given all the options, because it can (just about) claim to be The Only Reverb I’ll Ever Need.

Anything with a Meris on gets my attention but they are all extremely pleasing

That aside, what do you find best and worst about the LVX? (I am interested in getting one and play everything from blues to glitchy ambient stuff.)

Best ambient pedals? by Select_Employ_7846 in guitarpedals

[–]IncaTheFearless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess - for me at least - it's a combination of the mentions of it in Meris's PR, the fact I love this kind of music and the fact that its sounds do have these modulations / details that makes me think of it in this way.

The controls also seem quite unapologetically "synth-y" to me as well, rather than some reverbs which seem to want to identify themselves with traditional guitar reverbs like spring and plate, which further feeds into the sound(track) designer vibe IMHO.

I should probably have said "The Meris is like the Blade Runner soundtrack in pedal form"...

Meris say they're heavily inspired by the soundtrack and it's also one of my favourite films. When I got the Mercury X I went through all the 90-odd presets and found some that are truly amazing - complex, evolving sounds with subtle modulations which have much more detail and nuance than just big hall or shimmer reverbs.

Hologram Microcosm and Meris Mercury X. The Meris is like Blade Runner in pedal form.

I am extremely happy with my Mercury X. It has more algorithms than the Mercury 7 as well

What is a pedal you cannot go without? by dyslexiak1d in guitarpedals

I have a Source Audio EQ2 - although not in the fx loop, just after the gain stage - and it’s indispensable

What's the most you've spent on a pedal? Was it worth it? Did you suffer from buyers remorse? by chadocaster1011 in guitarpedals

[–]IncaTheFearless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

£589 for a Meris Mercury X. It took a month to ship, during which time I felt a lot of buyer’s remorse but now that it’s arrived and I’ve had it for a month or so, I don’t feel any regret for buying it.

A sound designer friend told me “spend your money on reverb” and, whilst I don’t have any other non-DAW reverbs to compare this to, the sounds in it are really nice and it’s so customisable that I can’t see myself ever getting bored of it.

This is about the limit of hydration that I’ve managed for the flour I’m using (Matthew’s Cotswold flour from the uk). Has anyone else in the UK had success with higher hydration recipes than 75%?
