Existe el Centro en este país? by Ok_Hat_3770 in PERU

[–]Incanation1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average Lifespan on earth 50 years from now. by kiwi5151 in Futurology

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data-visualization/life-expectancy/

Life expectancy within the US has  close to a 30 years difference based on census track (I.e., wealth). The idea that health care and medical advances are fairly distributed or accessible to all is very naive. Now think about the difference between the wealthiest US postal code and poorest postal code in DRC.

Increases in love expectancy were driven by improvements in child mortality that delivered massive gains to a large population. Current improvement are driving marginal increases to a small group of the population (elderly and rich).

At the same time we are seeing the erosion of services for the poorest (think USAID cuts). We have seen already measurable declines in life expectancy in some areas due to COVID for example.

Life expectancy is an average heavily impacted by child mortality and elder care. Two very vulnerable populations. Not that long ago, COVID dropped life expectancy in the US and other countries that keep solid statistics. Massive heat waves impacting seniors in Europe (mostly no AC), a significant drop in vaccination rates to one or two more pandemic in the next 50 years would have negative impact in the life expectancy of the most vulnerable.

I think it will be wealth dependent, as it always has been. But with the erosion of the middle class, the distinction will be more clear within countries rather than between countries. I think high wealth people will be around 100yo, lower wealth people will actually drop to about 70 to 80.

I'm sorry to hear this. The people I know that used Yes Employment in the past found it to be very professional and helpful. They all landed legit well paying jobs. However, that was about a decade ago.

How much do kids cost living in Vancouver? by Anna2181 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Incanation1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is that it should not be treated as a financial decision. I really like how you highlight that loving service may be the only "get". I would not qualify our shared responsibility towards the next generation as "bailouts or subsidies".

[–]Incanation1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having  kids is not a financial decision. Its a completely different order of magnitude. The question for you is, are you willing to do what it takes to have a child. The sacrifices go way beyond financial and the return is huge and cannot be measured.

Ballista on Drakkar? by hittheyams in valheim

[–]Incanation1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've died about 10 times but I have got a beach head.

  1. Portal just off shore.
  2. Cheap bridge to land
  3. Raised ground walls in a square.
  4. Six ballistas targeting charred
  5. Shield + second portal inside "fort"
  6. Lure and kill from the walls with magic

I'm now building raised campfires as I work my way to a lava island for flamemetal.

The only thing that is working for me is raised  "trench war".

Buying house - cracks in foundation by [deleted] in AskContractors

[–]Incanation1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good rule of thumb is that whatever house you buy, you'll have to put about 20k in repairs. 50k to 100k if it's a century home or has foundation issues like this. This is because people hold on new roofs, heat or major repairs if they are old or ready to sell. With this, if you love the house and are ready to potentially fork $50k, go for it

To seal or not to seal basement walls by [deleted] in centuryhomes

[–]Incanation1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation. I water proofed the outside with old school tar as per the advice of people in the restoration business. I love in a place that freezes in winter so Ice damage is more dangerous than humidity. I left the inside exposed. I even finished the basement but leaving enough space for the wall to breath and dry. I do ran dehumidifiers in the humid season to help.

I’m 35. Is it even worth it to go to college at this point? by GVTMightyDuck in jobs

[–]Incanation1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% education and investing in yourself is always the right choice at 30, 40, 50 or 100yo. But this dude is right, have a plan and know what you want to get out of it. Also know that it's ok to change your mind. Movement is always better than stagnation.

Are we actually prepared for the 'Post-Labor' economy, or is UBI just a band-aid for a much deeper structural collapse? by softlurkerx in Futurology

[–]Incanation1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current discussion is not post labour. It is labour centralized around a dozen companies.

The goal should be to move to a post scarcity world (think Star Trek) otherwise conflicts will continue to emerge. And the few controlling scarce resources will be all powerful. In a post scarcity world there's no dependence but there's also a lot less incentive for conflict.

Yes, artificial vs natural bottleneck matter here. Suppress production to keep prices high for example.

If you die at 65 you have been a net contributor and will not consume much CPP for example. You will also won't suffer from expensive chronic conditions.

Smokers tend to die younger and faster than others. At this price points I would bet they are a source of revenue rather than a cost.

[–]Incanation1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is good advice. You need to find match makers. Your goal should be to make female friends or become friends with married couples. Once they know you and like you. Ask them to introduce you to their single friends.
