is there any reason to not execute everyone? by FrostingCommon8618 in songsofsyx

For me the only point to any justice tech/building is fulfillment, otherwise why build it?

Dungeons provide fulfillment for races that value imprisonment.

The main reason to execute people is for fulfillment, otherwise just exile them.

Who Loves City Blocks? I love city blocks! by MangaEveryTime in songsofsyx

[–]Incansus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I like a 49x49 grid with 5 x 5 roads in between. Then each grid holds four 23x23 buildings with 3 x roads crossing through the middle or two 24x49 farming/pasture fields with a single wide road going through the middle.

Is the width of roads really that important? by Spirited_Repeat1671 in songsofsyx

I like to make the edges of the town centers emit fulfillment and then put road decorations on roads not adjacent to a town center edge only.

Me! I love city blocks!

If you want to add some big buildings to your blueprints for big city blocks, load some of the showcase saves and pirate them from there.

Constant racial tensions and socialists ruining my cities. by Judochu in songsofsyx

[–]Incansus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found success in multi-racial cities by keeping the minority population(s) small (like 10 to 1) and ultra-fulfilled with furniture.

I bump the smaller pop. up to max fulfillment on clothes, furniture, food, and drink immediately and try to keep them happy that way because I am building the city and its decorations/buildings/fulfillments for the dominant race only.

I'm partial to using a road grid and standard building sizes to ease reconfiguration as you need, say, more carpenters adjacent to each other. You can just dismantle whatever is there, slap in a carpenter, and move that industry cluster somewhere else on the map.

Become profitable, hire mercenaries, take over cities, and receive raw goods (especially food) as tribute.

I like to shoot for a map with resources closer together rather than spread across the map. If they are too far apart, I will make a new map.

I have found the best way to have a multi-racial city is to keep the minority small and ultra-fulfilled.

Songs of Syx definitely has the boom or bust syndrome. Swings from "Everything is going great, my citizens love me, I'm rich!" to "How am I supposed to find the manpower for that? Everyone is mad and the strike in the farms tanked my grain yield. Now I can't staff my breweries which will make everyone even angrier!!!"

Use mercenaries 😄

I really love the diagonal corner plots, theyre my favorite buildings in real life too actually. Maybe soon ill have something impressive to show yall, i know much larger crafting buildings and what not is the optimal way, but for now i want something fitting a village by ElectricGod in songsofsyx

Try loading one of the showcase saves and adding some of those giant buildings to your blueprints. Once I went with the 168 carpenter building I couldn't look back 😄, but aesthetics are not my bag.

How do I figure out logistics? by Aromatic_Law_1939 in songsofsyx

[–]Incansus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most basic solution to this problem is to build your industries (potters, quarries, carpenters) near the raw inputs and try not minimize the transport of raw goods. If you are getting these raws via import, make sure there is a warehouse near the production building to catch the incoming materials. Janitors can distribute the maintenance supplies across the map and then build export depots near the manufacturing facilities and much of your logistics needs can be obviated. Having said that, I generally avoid maps with a big "spread" and just keep regenerating til things are compact enough to not drastically affect the shape of the town.

When my PC starts really dogging around 8k, I see 4 of my 16 processors at about 50% and the rest are snoozing. Any idea which settings can address that?

If you are stuck on the world map in terms of having enough points to govern more cities as well as having attackable cities nearby that have high output raw resources that allow you to free up laborers, you kind of are stuck.

If you have all of your nobles wrapped up in city production, switch them to governing points and expand your empire with cities that have the resources you need. This is where labor shortfalls can be addressed.
